Who?

Pancreatic cancer is a terrible way to die. Good for him for making the best of the time he has left.

"You walk down the street and you feel intensely alive. You're `Oh, look at that leaf!' You're looking around and you think, `I'm alive. Ain't it amazing?'"

Almost dying changes nothing.  Dying changes everything.

Walt_Jizzney: Repeat.

i was gonna say that but this story adds the touring angle, whereas the other 53 "wilko johnson has terminal cancer" stories just said he had cancer.

I saw Dr Feelgood at a small venue in Detroit in the late 70s. They rocked.

And now the tragic story
Eddie's sister, Mary Louise
Needed an operation
To get the money he would have to become
An overnight sensation
Eddie believed the American people
Had wonderful, love giving hearts
His well-publicized end
He considered would send
His memorial album to the top of the charts

When a young singer dies
To our shock and surprise
In a plane crash or flashy sports car
He becomes quite well known
And the kindness he's shown
Has made more than one post mortem star

Live 'till you die. May the wind always be at your back, obscure rock 'n roll guy.

He has the heart of a lion and the wings of a bat.

I remember them.  I admire the guy.  I hope it would be how I reacted.  If, you know, I had talent, and anybody on Earth wanted to hear me play.

Neat. Saw the Bluebird Theater show in Denver they did the day he got the diagnosis that it was terminal. The guy was absolutely on fire all night, like if he jumped up and down and strummed hard enough, the cancer would fall right out of him.

Riding out with the amp on fire and the long neck on the stand?

Go for it.

How does one die of pancreatic cancer? Starvation? Or are there some exceptionally painful aspects when one's pancreas is attacked in such a way?

(Too bad he didn't go to Cancer Treatment Centers of America. According to their slimy TV commercials - if you ignore the fine print - they'll have you up and running around in no time! Because they care! And all other hospitals uses rusty scalpels!)
