And these otters were intentionally released by an activist group?  I bet there are lawyers lined up to sue the conservationists for every dime they've got.  They obviously did zero in the way of impact studies before releasing the animals - probably more for feel good notoriety than actual environmentalism.  I doubt they'll be feeling very good when the collection houses start calling.

People need to understand - and accept - that there are reasons these animals died out in this area.  The ecosystem has moved on, evolved.  Where there used to be lakes and fields, there are now houses and well maintained ponds.  It's not that one is better than the other; they're just different.  They're designed to support widely different types of wildlife.  And unless these conservation groups can provide habitat in the way of zoos and conservatory lands, they have no business releasing these animals.

I hope for this poor couple that they are able to at least capture and kill the otter.
