What's the controversy?  Is it or is it not the dumbest ad ever?

2013-02-04 11:58:04 AM
How was the ad controversial? It was 2 people kissing.

2013-02-04 12:06:08 PM
Still wondering if the mic'd it incredibly close or if it was foley with someone slapping two giant gobs of whale blubber together.  It was gross sounding, is what I'm saying...

Been wondering whatever happened to Pat

Not really

I had to cover my eyes! Did not enough people puke?

I found the entire collection of commercials lacking this year.

That ad was repulsive

I think it's interesting how women seem to be much more uncomfortable with this than men. Who generally don't give a fark.

2013-02-04 12:23:30 PM
It's all downhill from there, Jesse.

2013-02-04 12:25:46 PM
There was a look in her eye at a couple of points that really said that she was completely revulsed by it it.

2013-02-04 12:27:22 PM
I hope he grabbed some boob while suck facing that hottie.

2013-02-04 12:27:35 PM
The ad was effective in that people are talking about it, but it was just gross.

2013-02-04 12:34:14 PM
I still don't even know what that ad was about.  Aside from the fact that this woman will degrade herself for an appropriate sum of money.  Nothing earth shattering there I guess.

Now, Doritos on the other hand... has convinced me to never buy a goat.  Not that I would... again.

'Controversial' is rapidly becoming one of those lazy journalist weasel words that they use to avoid doing any actual, ya know, journalism.

Anything evenly mildly out if the norm is a 'controversy.'  The nature of the controversy is never explained, nor it is ever resolved.  It"s the new 'some people are saying.'

Of course the breathlessness with which the 'controversy' is reported is almost directly inverse to it's actual importance.

2013-02-04 12:42:33 PM
You could actually see the revulsion on her face both before and after the kiss. It's fleeting, but it's there.

2013-02-04 12:42:39 PM
Fremdschämen. That commercial gave you it.

Agree.  The E-trade baby was good as expected but has been better.   O the whole they were meh to bad

I enjoyed the Benz soul commercial and both Doritos commericals.

It wasn't the video that was repulsive, it was the audio.

2013-02-04 12:56:43 PM
The commercial with the Joe Montana stain was pretty funny. Other than that it was a collection of things I've seen eighteen times before, retarded products ("look, a self-defeating cheap Benz!"), and awful movie trailers.

CBS apparently made them edit it. The originally submitted version included a lot more tongue with a very close up angle.

To quote one of the greatest (IMHO) farker lines in the past week....

"I'd suck a fart out of her ass".

James Joyce is a Farker?

2013-02-04 01:01:56 PM
Good for him and all, but I did think it was a but gross. Did they really need to do the extreme close-up and all the sucking sounds? I'm no prude, I love porn, but I don't want to see certain things in close-up like that, and balls. That lady should have made out with the other lady in the commercial. That would have been appealing to watch. Next time it comes on, I'm changing the channel.

- Better pass wind boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fart and wither dismally with age.

I liked the Oreo commercial.  Clever use of the library whisper.  The Tide Montana stain was clever too.  The sound more than anything to me made this GoDaddy Ad disturbing.  That guy had some serious rosacea going on and yes, I noticed that Bar looked a bit skittish but the audio was squirm-inducing.

2013-02-04 01:07:17 PM
Three rules to avoid commercial controversy:

1. Be handsome

2. Be attractive

3. Don't be unattractive

2013-02-04 01:16:16 PM
The audio was distrubing.  Sounded like a dog just going to town on his own groin.

And it was deliberate. She was supposed to look like she was doing a loathsome thing.

You people are idiots if you think this was particularly repulsive for some bizarre reason.

Unless the guy was death scented, or had bad breath (and I would not put it past them just to make her make faces) meh.

So, we find it repulsive to watch someone do something loathsome, and we're idiots because of it?

I have to admit I'm a little surprised about the lack of commentary about the Audi "bravery" commercial.

2013-02-04 01:54:32 PM
Also, this is what GoDaddy was looking for, people talking about their ad.  It may not have been well liked, but it's probably getting more conversation than the rest of the ads combined.  Not sure this buzz will equate to sales, but time will tell.

nelsonal: I enjoyed the Benz soul commercial and both Doritos commericals.

As repulsive as the GoDaddy ad was, at least it didn't have CGI puffs of smoke/dust in it like at least 4 of the
other marquee ads (including the Benz one) had.

/That effect became cliche almost immediately.

2013-02-04 02:09:27 PM
If GoDaddy had an actual product, I wouldn't buy it.

What do you want out of this poor woman? She's used to sleeping with Leonardo Dicaprio.

Having to listen to the slobbering and sucking noises totally ruined the visual image of Rafaeli kissing someone. It really was gross.

Anyone else in the Tampa Bay area catch the 4 second Sweetbay commercial?

I thought that was the best one of the night.

To this day I hate all baby commercials.  Mostly because of the one where the baby pukes in the middle of whatever it was saying.  No, I don't have kids.
