Publicity for her book, meh.

At least it's honest publicity. Not that kind where she pretends that she's thought about having sex with the maid, or she likes to walk around naked in her backyard.

Good for her. They make a cute couple and have cute kids. And she doesn't really seem like an AW but then maybe her writing sucks.

Article says they have been married for 30 years, but they met in 1989, so I don't think so. He was a teacher(!) and she was the hot young (college) student. Learn something new every day.

Leary has been accused several times (and some rightfully so) of stealing Bill Hicks' jokes.  So whatever Dennis does, Bill's done first.

It's not a great joke, but shouldn't really need to be explained to someone familiar with the two of them.

i heard some of those and i wouldn't call it stealing (and i don't give a shiat about either Hicks or Leary.  if leary was in town i doubt i'd go).  similar subject matter -- "wow, isn't smoking crazy?  nonsmokers hate us" -- but nothing that strikes me as leary stealing jokes.

we should get Captain Comedy Police Joe Rogan on the case.

That seems like an odd thing to accuse.  Granted, I haven't heard of Denis' more recent stuff, but I know every joke Hicks has uttered in a public audience.  It strikes me just as odd as saying Lewis Black is stealing Hick's jokes.  No, they just have similar topics of comedy.

i find that a fascinating subject (comedians stealing jokes).....i only recently heard the Dane Cook  vs Louis CK controversy, apparently on a "itchy asshole" / "sweaty asshole" bit CK did first.  some comic was on i think Marc Maron's podcast recently and alluded to that, about how Cook was on Louie's tv show and there was tension i guess.

like above, Hicks doing a bit about how non-smokers hate smokers, which Leary evidently did, that's a pretty common subject.  but a bit about a itchy asshole?  that does sound like stealing. or the obvious one, Mencia's "who's gonna build that fence?" joke, which is well documented (or robin williams stealing Jay Mohr's "i talked to christopher walken about what it would be like to have a tail" bit).

dunno.

Hicks went really philosophical and spoken word at the end of his career. Of course, you have to wonder if that wasn't just a dead man exercising his right to say whatever the fark he wanted.

I would have loved to have heard Hicks rant about Bush 2.

/Of course, As he got older, Carlin also went more angry old man/spoken word as opposed to comedy. Complaints and Grievances was the height of angry old man Carlin. His final album was a bit less angry, but still funny.
