I wonder how the outcome of this event would have been different had he been wielding guns, instead?

Having snuck off tour in the early 80s, and considering how cranky the suits who picked me up my 12 year old self were, I cannot imagine the reaction to someone armed. Well, I can, but considering how I got wrenched and frogmarched out, I can't recommend actually being even mildly threatening in the joint. Word to the wise: the cats on patrol have no sense of humor. None. And I was with a kid whose parents worked at the palace, and according to him, they were being nice...

IIRC dear old Saint Bastard Nick there was played by Peter Jackson (LOTR director).

One reason the authorities got so alarmed is because this was a military-style Cold Steel Bushmaster Recon Extreme III tanto dagger with a Kydex sheath that fits standard ALICE tactical rigging and can be mounted for quick draw.

These weapons are really only made to kill as many people in as short a time as possible and they just aren't appropriate for civilians. If he had had a traditional kitchen knife instead, the police probably could have tackled him safely or maybe talked him down. But there's no justification for anyone outside the military to have these frightening looking murder machines. Ban tactical knives now!

I don't know, but over here the cops would probably have just shot his ass.

Am I the only one that feels quite a bit more squidged by the one of the other articles on that page?  Male porn actor wanted for hacking up body with icepack and knives and posting it online, along with quite possibly mailing decomposing body parts about.

Umm... christ yikes!

Messier. I suspect the soldiers in the funny hats would get involved.

But wielding a scimitar lobbed to you by a moistened bint will make you King of England.
