The Iron Man 3 teaser was pretty cool. Anyone know where to find the full trailer? Or was that 32 second clip all there was?

That was a new trailer.  There are a couple of other ones that were released a few months ago but they didn't have the footage in this one.

I liked the Samsung commercial.  Nice parody of Apple.

They all sucked.

2013-02-04 12:53:17 AM
They were all basically awful.

2013-02-04 01:45:35 AM
The Budwiser Clydesdale one had me blubbering in my beer.

The rest sucked.

The one with the wolf made me laugh; the one with the obese geek locking lips with the supermodel made me cringe and cover my eyes.

Most of them made me think "People spent millions of dollars on THAT?"

No, I'm not going to watch your ads.  I avoid advertising.

Yeah, wouldn't want to cut in on your "telling strangers that you don't watch ads" time.

It's on YouTube now: Link

Better use of my time to stare at a blank wall, so I'm not sure what your point is.

That GoDaddy ad w/ the model and the geek was disgusting with the slobbery kissing sounds. The Leon Sandcastle ad w/ Deion Sanders was hilarious, and the Doritos one w/ the guy and the goat made me chuckle. The rest were meh.

2013-02-04 02:50:12 AM
Most of them were forgettable. The Mercedes Benz spot was decent, though.

That's got to be my favorite "extended look" ever.

I was onboard with the idea of a Lone Ranger movie until....WHO THE fark THOUGHT THEY SHOULD CAST JOHNNY farkING DEPP AS TONTO INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL INDIAN???

Seriously...

The Audi spot was memorable for all the wrong reasons. My twitter feed lit up with people complaining about the non-consensual nature of the kiss. It was pretty much everything that's been wrong with the portrayal of women in Super Bowl advertising encapsulated into one TV spot.

I also like the Doritos Goat, but add the Oreo "whisper fight" to my list. Maybe because my wife worked in libraries for a long time.

The Coke race spot would have been infinitely better if, instead of show girls in the bus, they'd gone with a Priscilla Queen of the Desert reference. It would have made more sense since the other bits were loosely referencing movies.

The Library Fight was awesome.

OMG SRSLY, and Volkswagen might as well name their new car the "Schutzstaffel" because they're a bunch of racists letting two white and one Asian guy have Jamaican accents.

/hope you were being sarcastic too

2013-02-04 02:59:37 AM
I'd better click now, because I'll probably never see any of those commercials ever again.

2013-02-04 02:59:57 AM
The good:
The RAM Trucks ad featuring Paul Harvey. A boatload of awesome.
Clydesdale. Didn't get to me, but clearly resonated perfectly with target audience if you look at the social buzz and reactions already out there.

The bad:
The GoDaddy ads, but especially the model/geek one. Horrible.
Blackberry. What a piece of shiat ad. Total waste.
Subway trotting Jared out again. fark that guy and that whole tired farking idea.
I had no idea there was a Fast and Furious 3, 4, and 5. WTF.

I'm indifferent to the rest.

2013-02-04 03:01:31 AM
Ok, I'm noticing that the Oreo's library fight is not on this list. It was the only good commercial of the Super Bowl imo.

There's a huge difference between the VW commercial, which Jamaica's tourism people loved, and a commercial that depicts and glorifies what is, by all legal definitions, sexual assault.

2013-02-04 03:06:13 AM
Yeah ok, I sobbed at the Budweiser one.  The Library Fight was the only funny one.

2013-02-04 03:06:55 AM
Oreo's moment came when the lights went out and they delivered this mere minutes later--just as everyone was taking to Twitter with jokes, comments, etc.

https://twitter.com/Oreo/status/298246571718483968

They'll be using that in 'realtime marketing' seminars and presentations for years to come. It's over 13000 retweets now and it went over 12000 in just a couple of minutes. The return on a per dollar basis for that little bit of humor and goodwill is gonna outstrip the TV ad ROI for a joke.

2013-02-04 03:08:56 AM
There's an 'extended look' version of the Iron Man 3 teaser on Facebook now..

It starts with Tony Stark staring right into the camera for about 30 seconds.

anybody have a link to the 1/2time show?
I was working and that's the only thing I really wanted to see, but I forgot to set my VCR.

I didn't see it during the game (didn't wake up till almost halftime) but I just checked it out on youtube, and if you think that was "glorifying sexual assault" you might be taking it a little bit too seriously. And the kiss didn't really look all that non-consentual, unless you mean the Prom King didn't consent to the other guy kissing his date.

I was surprised to see Budweiser targeting the imaginary vampire demographic with their Black Crown commercial.

ThrnPhl: They all sucked.

The Tide commercial was good.

2013-02-04 03:32:57 AM
Nobody else enjoyed Dwayne Johnson's milk commercial?

2013-02-04 03:37:40 AM
The Tide miracle stain won the commercial stakes, with Oreo in second, but Oreo's blackout capitalization won them the day. Third place was M&M's.

Leon Sandcastle had a surprisingly good showing; usually the league's offerings are completely forgettable and usually not even considered 'competition' ads.

2013-02-04 03:56:37 AM
The Amy Poehler/Best Buy spot was chuckle-worthy--but I'm a bit biased, since I've developed a bit of a thing for Miss Poehler.

RatMaster999: I was onboard with the idea of a Lone Ranger movie until....WHO THE fark THOUGHT THEY SHOULD CAST JOHNNY farkING DEPP AS TONTO INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL INDIAN???

The answer is Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp thought it was a good idea. It's how the movie got made. They don't spend $100 million on movies with Armie Hammer and Joe NotFamousIndianDude. How do people not understand this?

And Depp says he's part Cherokee, like many, many other people. Feel free to argue with him.

2013-02-04 04:06:48 AM
Allow me to correct myself - the budget on TLR is apparently $250 million.

Where's Kate Upton?  I was told there would be a Kate Upton ad.

Thank fark, I wasn't the only one getting misty...though I did have a few giggles for the Doritos ads.

pciszek: Where's Kate Upton?  I was told there would be a Kate Upton ad.

She was in the Mercedes-Benz "Deal with the Devil" spot, which I thought was one of the more brilliant ones as far as getting the company's talking point across goes.

2013-02-04 05:36:23 AM
I threw up Doritos after watching the Calvin Klein ad. Which market was that appealing to anyways? If I'm sitting with my friends I'm not like "Hey man, you'd look hot in those tight briefs." Certainly, not out loud.

/enjoyed the Samsung and racist VW ad

2013-02-04 06:01:34 AM
Seriously, so now advertisements aren't even available overseas? What a pain in the ass.

/I'll take your word for it that they all sucked and/or were awesome

2013-02-04 06:21:27 AM
My party got a nice laugh from the M&Ms commercial in which Red was singing the Meat Loaf song.

2013-02-04 06:44:35 AM
The Blackberry ad is nowhere to be found on the NFL's "commercials by quarter" page, or the same page as sorted by rankings.

As a stockholder in Blackberry, this concerns me.

/reaches for tinfoil hat
//heard Samsung is a sponsor

I liked the cars.com one with the baby wolf the most.

It took me a minute to realize the "extended look" claim was literal. Then I chuckled.

Paul Harvey Dodge ad is fantastic and best ad of the night.

VW is doing a great job with commercials to make one smile and the Dwayne Johnson milk ad was cute.

I switched over to the Puppy Bowl during commercials. Looks like I didn't miss anything.

Keep this up and it's gonna need a name change to the "Crash and Burn"

I nearly did a spit take at that Scientology.com ad. I was floored that anyone thought airing that one was a good idea. But then I remembered, oh yeah, money.
