5 students from the same school all scored 2380 or 2400 on the same test day?  That's a very long way past unlikely.

Meh, the year my brother got a 1600 two other classmates of his did it, too in a high school of about 300 students. Made the local news.

Also, does the pic of the girl alone make anyone else think of the "overly attached girlfriend" meme?

Back in the late 80's, an 1120/1600 on the SAT and a 26 on the ACT put me in the 90th percentile.

Yeah. We had two in my HS in the same year. I was the first, a buddy of mine was the second. I got all the recognition, though because I was "first" (took the test one test date earlier).

Last I checked, it is.  Unless he was combining with with the writing section (I think there's a writing section anyway, unless I'm remembering the GRE?), in which case would still be pretty darn good, but not perfect.

The lame attempt to humblebrag is being mocked, if that's what it is. Never heard about the ACT's details, just saw the name.

"I only got a perfect score on a standardized test." is a pretty lame brag, though. I reckon 36 is just high, not perfect.

I'd rather keep my 1200s score and NOT have the name "bald ass anal".   Very happy for her that she's a woman and can marry away from it.

I love how the school is all proud to have students that scored so high when anything over 1400 ISN'T TAUGHT IN REGULAR CURRICULUM.

You got roughly 2/3rds correct and that put you in the 90th percentile?  God, people were stupid back then.  I'm jealous.  My 1350 would've gotten me the admission to Princeton that I missed.

I did the PSAT a few times, mainly because my high school made everybody take it through junior year, that was all the practice I had. I did alright on the SAT, though nothing amazing. Wound up with a much better result on the ACT, never having even seen that test before, much less practiced, and took the LSAT half asleep. It started at 8 AM during a semester where my earliest class was at 11, and they didn't let you bring coffee in. Did well on it, but I suspect that if my brain had been fully up and running, I could have done better.

I also got a 750 on one of the SAT subject tests (American History) after finishing it in 20 minutes. They wouldn't let me leave after finishing, and there was absolutely nothing I was allowed to do for the remaining 40 minutes. God, that was boring. I also took the Civics AP test without taking the course and got a 5. Easy subject for me.

Grade inflation because of the pressure from steadily decreasing SAT scores.  Also, your one-shot 1120 with no special prep has to be compared to kids who spend half the year doing nothing but preparing for the test.

Different times and expectations.

Probably too much trouble since it changes year to year. I wouldn't be shocked if scores and percentiles could still be accessed by those of us who registered online back when we took it though. I'd check, but I would have no clue what the login information was.

I don't actually know what a PSAT is (and since I don't have kids, hell if I'm going to look it up). I dunno, 1998 I took the SAT, got 1268/1600, never cared enough to do anything more - no ACT, in other words. I have no idea why that's apparently the thing most people did first, according to upthread.

My issue turned out to be that I was absolutely not ready for college. I dropped out before the end of my first semester and worked at the mall for far longer than was rational before joining the Army, and then finally getting it through my head that it was never going to get any better without a degree of some sort. We won't get into the other misfortunes that have kept even that from helping, but yeah... even staying on the lower end of society, I think I've at least been happier not to have the crazy pressure to perform academically that these kids must have been facing. There comes a point where being a wage slave affects your health.

I knew a guy who wrote a 3D modeling program for his TI-83. It took the thing about an hour to render a cube, but...

\His minesweeper program was actually pretty good, and kept me occupied in more than one class.
