Paparatzi: "I don't think that's ever been done before in the history of ... ever since "La Dolce Vita". Who directed that?"

Joseph Gordon-Levitt : "Fellini."

Papparatzi: "Who?"

What a bunch of idiot paparazzi. They should have quit while they were ahead and said nothing. Instead they reinforce the assumption that these celebrity photographers are idiots.

When they identified themselves as "Asshole" and "Asshole, Jr", you really got the sense that it was all doomed to spiral downwards from there.

Flashbulbs??  Was this taken in 1950?

2013-02-03 01:46:21 PM
It's almost as if having a camera pointed in their face made them uncomfortable.

Huh.

Good for him.

This is super old. I remember seeing it years ago, pre resurgence in fame.

I've always thought JGL seems like he'd be fun to hang out with.

That's what makes the one photog saying to him "You're not worth it...if you were someone like DiCaprio..." funny.

2013-02-03 03:57:01 PM
This was filmed years ago.

Good for him though. I laughed when the photographer ended up pretty much admitting he was hoping JGL was gay

i just don't think we'll be seeing this footage on TMZ

I like how the one guy complained about being on camera without a shred of irony or self-awareness.

It is a very old video, but it made the frontpage of Reddit, so it was only a matter of time before it got re-greened here.

If it's from boingboing, then yes, it's possible it's that old.

A bunch of celebs should get together and hire a group of people to stalk paparazzi when they're shopping, taking the kids to school, washing the car etc.
Might not achieve anything but it would be fun.

/Jennifer Aniston used to wear the same pants/shirt again and again because those pics would be worthless to editors. They'd say the readers would think they'd seen them before.

Ha! That's awesome.

He never did answer the question

(however, when it ended and the photographer asked him 'so is it true what I said?' he should have answered 'yes, it IS true.  I AM an asshole')

poor guy. if only he picked a profession that well compensated him in exchange for such inconveniences

Those guys were pretty much the way I expected that kind of people to be.

JGL seems like a really cool guy. I love what he's done with HitRecord.

I like how the guys were saying how "if he were a big celebrity" or whatever.  JGL is not exactly a B List guy.

But then a bunch of paparazzi would stalk the celebs and a bunch of other celebs would stalk the second group of paparazzi... it would just devolve into Photo-Inception.

Yet they are following him around, so I don't know what their issue is. You are a minor actor, but we follow anyways!

And then he went and got more famous to make their jobs more rewarding. Really a classy move.

I don't think his compensation is justification for having rude, scum of the earth people following you around, especially during your private life. At a premier or some other event, fine, but not every time you go eat, or you're out on a first date.

Reddit to Metafilter to Boing Boing to Fark in the span of 13 hours. The more I'm on Reddit, the more I realize a significant amount of content of any given website is regurgitated from Reddit.

It's give and take.

2013-02-03 11:42:25 PM
I was hoping for a line like "so what year did you drop out of film school? Sophomore? Junior?" or "how many studio hoses did you interview for before you gave up?" or "Did ending production on the 'Girls Gone Wild' series hurt your job prospects?" "was taking pictures of houses for ReMax listings too complicated?"

Come on, these people who do this job are on their last chance in life. odds are they made many, many mistakes along the way. its easy to find a crack and break them apart.

I still don't understand why or how this is legal.

It's almost like celebrities want to be photographed.....

ModernLuddite: I still don't understand why or how this is legal.

It's legal because they're in a public place. And that's the same reason that applies when people videotape police interactions. So it isn't a bad thing necessarily.

had to laugh at the one douche who starts fumbling with his "press" pass trying to cover up his name.

if i were an A-list celeb i would hire paparazzi to follow other paparazzi around and take pictures of them at home, with their kids, at the grocery store. I would also hire someone to hang out with other paparazzi and occasionally erase their memory cards when no one is looking.

if the completely unsubstantiated rumours are true, the only place that particular video would have ended up would have been Vivid....

JGL hasn't made a believer out of me, at least not yet.  He was part of a monster movie that got him a couple of feature roles, but so far, he has underwhelmed.  50/50 was meh, and Premium Rush was just bad.  Looper was a decent movie, but his performance didn't stand out.
