I got mad it was a slideshow yet still managed to click through about 30.  Some neat home bars, a few were kind of weak though.

Am I missing something or is this one just a kitchen that might have some bottles of liquor in it somewhere.

is it. is it really.

I really like the idea of working it into that normally useless space under the stairs (#11)!
That being said, any that don't include a tv fail, for me. No matter how fantastic your home bar is, if your friends/family want to watch a game and they can't do it there, they're going somewhere else.

if i could afford this

hgrm.sndimg.com

i wouldn't have to live in my mom's basement.

as it is, 1.75s of cheap scotch or 90 proof bourbon, chased with some Steel Reserve, work fine.

Oh, and fark you subby, for not deslidifying. 89 slides on an iPhone sucked but I couldn't stop because I have a keen interest in design.

Couple cool ones but most are a little snooty looking for my taste. I like basement dive bars.

I also need to point out that those places were all dead. TV on but no chicks. No friends hanging out. Sad. What's the point of having a bar if it's a ghost town. <-- Learning how to handle my biz-nass. Wut.

Those were absolutely horrible. I think I saw one that didn't make me want to throw up on it

I don't live in a basement; I live in a van down by the river!

2013-02-03 02:52:24 PM
Ok, it's not really a van, but it isn't much better than one. And it's very close to a large northern California river.

2013-02-03 02:54:01 PM
I feel like about 1/3 of those are actual cash bars, that happen to be in basements, as opposed to a basement bar at your house.

2013-02-03 02:55:37 PM
That fire truck themed one is my favorite. Would be cool or what? I want a bar in my basement...I guess I need to get rich.

I said the same thing watching one of those 'awesome ski homes' shows.  While I liked the ski-in, ski-outness of it all, the houses all looked overengineered, cold, and empty...I'd have to see people actually enjoying themselves there to form an opinion.

We used to have a basement bar but the kid took over with his toys. We're selling the bar but the fridge and back counters are still down there. I guess we had to grow up.

lmao
The booze is still down there, just not the giant piece of furniture to put it on. The kid needs an open play space and that was the space.

I just installed my old 37" HD LCD in my basement bar this weekend, and am farking from there now while enjoying a frosty one, so I'm getting a kick, etc.

Seriously.  There were a few like that.  I think I'm going to put a few bottles on my kitchen table and then tell my friends I put a bar in.

not a kitchen. no stove/oven, mini sink, only one entrance that you have to walk all the way around to the end of the room to enter.. it just has close to everything you could possibly need for bar type activities. including a wine fridge and a microwave for nachos... fancy

/the marble counter tops bar surface probably threw you off

The kids' stuff isn't allowed in the section of my basement containing the bar area.

I love my basement bar, it's original late 50's modern, still all vintage and all the furniture is vintage late 50s-60s stuff. (except for the projector TV and it's 120" picture)

I didn't mind at all that this was a slideshow.  No ads.  Each click instantly jumped to the next picture without a long load time.  If this is what all slideshows were like I would love it.  It was actually easier than scrolling down a screen or clicking on thumbnails.

And speaking of thumbnails you had that option too if you wanted just by clicking on the button that said thumbnails.

Trying to buy a house with an awesome basement that will soon have a bar.

This one, minus the ceiling crap.
You'll be able to stand behind the bar & face the TV. Pool table (if the previous owners leave it) will be off to the left.

Yeah, that one caught my eye too. Beautiful bar, though the total setup isn't my favorite. A little too much space- something a little cozier would work better for me. Also, someplace where you could throw on a game, though I do like that a lot of them aren't built in a way that it would be weird to be sitting at them without watching TV. I don't like that mentality, sometimes it's much better to sit and talk with an old friend.

Basically, I have in mind a tiny little bar I wound up visiting while in Ireland. It was essentially a home bar, built onto the side of a house. I won't go in to how I wound up there, but it had a small bar that fit all of three stools, and the bar back was crammed with every spirit imaginable- better stocked than most bars I've seen in the US with easily a tenth of the space to put things. Old, and a serious piece of nicely carved wood furniture dating back to when people cared about craftsmanship, though the top part wasn't nearly as nice, the part facing out was paneled, probably just had some shelving or racks inside. There was a fireplace on the wall opposite the bar with a nicely sized hearth at a low chair height that you could sit on. One other wall had about 6 chairs lined up, the one facing that had a wooden bench (think a pew). A couple old TVs hung from the ceiling.

Tiny, and pretty clearly just a place for a few neighbors in the small town to hang out. But absolutely wonderful, and if I ever have my druthers about building the perfect bar, that will be it.

I have a full bar off the kitchen leading out to the pool.  Pool table, TV, '96 Golden Tee, and a Mega Touch machine so you can play Photo Hunt or Run 21.  Also a Schmidt's Light kegerator, and a bar custom built in Mexico.  (which really just means made for really cheap)

Why yes, I'm single and have no kids, how did you know?  It actually has proven rather practical, it's saved a lot of bar tabs, or the need to drive somewhere for a late night party.
