Is I don't give a fark an acceptable answer? I only care about his ideas on scaling back defense spending. Leave the diplomacy to Obama and Kerry

A) MINUS ELEVENTY GAZILLBILLION?

B) Hitler?

A perfect example of why these dog-pony show hearings need to be scrapped.  They're absolutely worthless for determining the skills of a nominee, but are great TV platforms for bitter Senators to biatch at people randomly.

"Can you name ONE senator who is intimidated by the Israeli lobby?"

"Yes, Senator Graham. YOU, you farkstain. Next farking question, you farking farks?"

(Only the first question is real, unfortunately).

How many times was Djibouti mentioned?

You do realize the confirmation candidates basically submit a questionnaire prior do their hearing, right?

With only five minutes of questioning per Senator per round, they have to focus on the juicy "gotcha" questions and not the mundane, actually relevant qualifying stuff.

How else do they make for interesting sound bites?

2013-02-03 11:00:07 AM
Apparently, the best way to prove that you aren't intimidated by the Israeli lobby is to make defending the Israeli lobby your primary focus.

He should have just brought in a mirror and held it up when Saouth Carolina's finest closeted senator asked his ridiculous question.

Its all just a horse and pony show for whoever their campaign contributors might be.

He'll get confirmed.

In a breath of fresh air, let me just say this:  Hagel sucked during the hearings.

//still want him as SecDef
///f*ck Graham and McCain in the ass

Well, in all fairness, military suicides is just depressing, and Afghanistan is old news...sooooo boring!  Why talk about that stuff when the prospect of a shiny, brand new war with Iran is on the horizon?

i find it sad that john mc cain is tearing his legacy to shreds with this stupid "answer yes or no" crap. the man was a distinguished senator and now he's a caricature of a right wing fark up.

of course that might explain the palin pick.

I want to thank the Emergency Committee for Israel, Sheldon Adelson, and the Senate Armed Service Committee for providing such a compelling vindication of our views.

Neoconservatives have had a raging hard on for Iran for 20+ years.  Thats not a new boner they're stroking.

Why is Israel's dick so firmly implanted in our government's mouth?  Maybe if spent as much time fellating their constituents, this country wouldn't be quite so disnefranchised with our entier leadership.

They're as guilty as the Republicans for their blind obedience to Benji.  They just weren't so openly prickish about it.

Given that four years ago they were falling all over themselves for Hagel and McCain even said he wanted Hagel in his own Cabinet, they were doomed as soon as they fell for Obama's trollbait. Obama knew what perfectly well what he was doing.

You'd think Hagel was trying to get confirmed as Israel's SecDef, not America's.

It's sad where there is more dissent about Bibi in Israel than there is in America.

For Godsake, he almost lost in the last election in one where experts predicted him to win easily. Even Israel seems to start to be getting tired of his BS.

Israeli administrations hold veto power over American foreign policy. Its in the Constitution--Article 16.5 if I"m not mistaken.

I want to believe this.  I want to believe that Obama is getting back for the several occasions where hes been burned, like when Netanyahu embarrassed Obama in congress.

That's been true in general about American/Israeli political discourse at least since the Carter Administration, if not before. At times its been helpful (Camp David/Oslo Accords) but its been fairly negative in consequences as of late.

Totally agree. The question they should be asking is "How can we cut waste in the Pentagon?"

I think when Bibi effectively did a campaign ad for Romney, the gloves really came off. You can tell Bibi was pissed at having to congratulate Obama on his re-election, as the the Israeli left has been pointing out.

I was on vacation in FL when that ad came out and I happened to catch it on TV. It was really stupid and basically a bunch of scaremongering.

I'm so glad Bibi's buddy didn't get elected here in the US. The last thing we need is another yes man for neoconservative causes.

When it comes to foreign policy, the only thing that matters is that we do whatever Israel wants, when Israel wants it.  There simply is no other way to keep America safe.

Oh, yeah.

On a personal note, I dislike all the use of "Bibi" in the news.  You have an extremist head of an ethnic nationalist state who is actively pushing against the US president, and theres this cute, familiarizing, nick name. .

And if they had been mentioned frequently you would be crying about Republicans bringing up irrelevant security threats.

Hagel did piss poor at that hearing and that's all there is to it.
