Look at all the Raiders not in the Hall of Fame, Tom Flores, Tim Brown, Cliff Branch, Lester Hayes, Ray Guy, Jim Plunkett, Ken Stabler.

The HOF is an individual award and the number of rings you have doesn't count for very much (some, not much). Haley was a starting All-Pro twice and he lost out to guys like Ogden who was an All-Pro seven years straight and went to the pro bowl 11 times. Leaving Parcells aside, what player would you select Haley above who made it into the Hall today?

+1. The ONLY people who want Modell in the Hall are Baltimore fans.

But what I can't figure out is how The Bus didn't get in. Oh, well, he'll get in next year.

If its all about the rings, then Monsignor Peter Armstrong  should be in the HoF.  Not only did he get 5 rings, but he  baptized Jerry Rice's children and officiated Joe Montana's , Dwight Clark's and Ronnie Lott's marriages.

You might want to read up on how Modell treated Leroy Kelly and the other black players on that squad before embarrassing yourself any further with that nonsense.

The problem is that the NFL limits the hall of fame to seven people a year. And IIRC, one must be a non player and one must be from the old era

That Ray Guy and Steve Tasker and Jerry Kramer aren't in the HoF is why I don't take the HoF too seriously. Its like the Pro Bowl, only taking trolling to the Nth level.

If being great at one thing that doesn't mean a lot makes you a hall of famer, I can't wait to see all the short white 3-point shooters fill up the basketball hall...

Modern Pro Bowls (after 1995) are virtually meaningless for HOF justification since fan voting and massive amounts of "injuries" have ruined their meaning.

Vince Young has 2 Pro Bowls FFS.

And when the article trying to justify your inclusion into Canton starts off with "...he has multiple rings, herp, derp..." You know Haley doesn't belong.

Hall of Good...fine. Hall of Fame...NFW...guy was a one-dimensional pass rusher who had the benefit of playing on great teams....THAT'S why he has so many rings.

And he was the Master at the coffin-corner punt, routinely giving Raiders opponents a starting point for their drives of 1st and 10 from their own 5, making it easier for their coked-up defense to murder the opposing QB while he was busy trying to avoid the safety.

Didn't the Hall move OJ's bust to an out of the way hard to find area next to some toilets?

Which statistics? You mean other than the hang-time and punts inside the 20 statistics that weren't even kept until he came along? Yeah, I guess when you have a big place in revolutionizing a part of the game, you fall behind in some of those other stats. He did lead the league in hitting the scoreboard in the Superdome though.

You can make a case for him based on how he evolved the position but his numbers are surprisingly weak and that is held against him.

Haley was the third best o-lineman up for it this year. Ogden and Shields were both more qualified. It's not surprising that he was left off, given how crowded the field is this yea. It figures to get even more crowded in 2014 with Kurt Warner, Junior Seau, Marvin Harrison, Derrick Brooks, Isaac Bruce and Tony Dungy being added to the mix along with Bettis, Tim Brown, Strahan, Walter and John Lynch all being eligible again.

Haley will probably not get in any time soon.

In fairness (and as a Raider fan) Plunk and The Judge weren't good enough for long enough and Stabler had more picks than TD's. Flores might get in at some point when the NFL makes a push to get more Hispanics into the game. Branch, Guy, and Brown should be in at some point though.

This is probably what happens when you jerk off in the locker room, bully your teammates and pee on somebody's car.

2013-02-04 10:32:30 AM
Tim Brown getting snubbed is bad enough, but Derrick Thomas STILL not being in is almost enough the make the Hall lose all credibility.
