Dude was the second best WR on the best team he was on.

Come to think of it, it IS strange that he didn't attempt the Heimlich maneuver on the Chargers when they choked against the Broncos on MNF... >_>

They were 7-9. I'd look for a new dealer too.

Given all the injuries the team had on his watch they might have wanted to find a real team doctor instead.

I'd be more surprised if any of the KC Chiefs were on performance enhancing drugs.  If they were, I would try to get a refund.

Call me when they write a book about him.

/Dr. Rosenfeld was worse than the coaches from 'North Dallas Forty".
//And yes, 'Dr. Bob' of 'Biggest Loser' fame blew the whistle on it.

Is this one of those guys who gives the team a kickback so he can be the "Official Doctor of [Insert NFL Team]"?  Because I always thought that was pretty shady.

The players of the National Football League deserve to have a doctor that's not been found liable of malpractice.

I don't take malpractice verdicts too seriously. The other stuff is a legitimate concern.

Not so performance enhancing after all

It's stupid that the team doctors are employed by the teams. They should be employed by the NFL and should be hoped by a commission reporting to the NFL and the NFLPA. They should be independent of the teams, even rotating if at all possible.

John Taylor applauds your astute analysis.

My favorite is Roger Goodell's response: Our doctors are great, and it's a shame that the NFLPA is trying to say we don't take player health seriously.

Didn't it take like 14 times for Swann to get in? It seems like numbers are getting Carter in and not being great. Honestly, don't mind that much, but he is the beginning of a this new era of big numbers.

We are in an era of inflated numbers where it is hard to figure out what is important at least in reference to WRs. Guys played longer in a pass happy era and put up huge numbers compared to what came before. So, I mean, I guess Cris Carter deserved to go in? What about Andre Reed? Played a long time, consistent numbers, couple of 2nd team All-Pros...what about him? Tim Brown? Really good player for a long time. 1 second team all-pro in 16 seasons. So we have a lot of guys that were pretty good for a long time in an era we can't quite compare to any other. Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison are stone cold locks. Everyone else, who knows?

/Cowboys fan bitter Drew Pearson never got in...
//Wait till the new era TE(s) come eligible. Jeremy Shockey has numbers very comparable with existing HOF tight ends...he's not a hall of famer...is he?

BFTB has been calling for them to fire him for a few years now.

Carter's career ran from 1987-2002.  Moss came into the league in 1998, as Carter's career was winding down, though he was still damn good.  When Carter retired, he was basically second in every career receiving statistic to Jerry Rice (which is like comparing hockey stats to those of Wayne Gretzky).

Carter did all that thanks to the help of sure-to-be-Hall-Of-Fame-someday QBs such as:  Wade Wilson, Sean Salisbury, Jim McMahon (old and decrepit version), Brad Johnson, Randall Cunningham, Jeff George, Daunte Culpepper, Todd Bouman and Spregon Wynn (and, to be fair, Warren Moon for a while).

The fact that Carter made Sean Salisbury look even remotely like an NFL QB is enough to make him a Hall of Famer right there.
