BarkingUnicorn: Why are the heaters outside? Are they burning coal or something?
nickdaisy: You know who would be my lead suspect?
BumpInTheNight: "What we really need to do is enclose the new equipment when we get it into fencing cages with locks and security cameras," she says. The price tag for future protection is $10,000.If you think it'll cost that much to secure some equipment ...well I can see why you've got no profits lady.
Fark Rye For Many Whores: BarkingUnicorn: Why are the heaters outside? Are they burning coal or something?Portable ones that'd been wheeled outside maybe.
happyhshoe: If the metal recyclers didn't buy this copper, there would be no market for these stolen materials.Just saying/
Vector R: No no, I've found the real problem (well, aside from scrap metal thieves, who are already less than shiat). FTA:To help the clinic offset the deductible and security costs, you can mail a donation to their office or donate on their website.Bolded mine. It's not that they can't afford new heaters, it's that their insurance company is raping them. How about we have some public shaming of the insurance company to help offset the cost?
BravadoGT: We need stronger, sensible wrench control. There's no reason for civilians that they HAVE to own them. There's no constitutional right to a wrench. If we just made sure wrenches were available for people who need them, like plumbers and mechanics--it would certainly be a big help against copper thieves (and other wrench-equipped ne'er-do-wells). In fact--I'm sure every person in that clinic would gladly give up their wrench if it meant their heat could be on.
Buffet: Heaters? Copper?? I Can't think of any heaters that use copper? I smell insurance scam!
President Merkin Muffley: I predict this being a trifecta.Followup: Donations raised in amounts enough to renovate the entire HVAC system at said clinic.Followup 2: Remember that clinic that had the copper stolen and Fark raised enough to help them out? Ya turns out the people that stole it came back for another visit.
Arcanaloth: Copper thieves should be given 10 lashes when caught, you'll see a drop off in theft then.
BarkingUnicorn: People need copper far more often than they need health care. Copper should be free. Then there'd be no incentive to steal it.
p51d007: Next thing you know, these cold calloused copper capers will be clutching copper clappers, kept in the closet that were taken by Clarence Cooper, the kleptomaniac from Cleveland.[b.vimeocdn.com image 640x480]
A Shambling Mound: Vector R: No no, I've found the real problem (well, aside from scrap metal thieves, who are already less than shiat). FTA:To help the clinic offset the deductible and security costs, you can mail a donation to their office or donate on their website.Bolded mine. It's not that they can't afford new heaters, it's that their insurance company is raping them. How about we have some public shaming of the insurance company to help offset the cost?Their insurance company is charging the deductible that was agreed to upon issuance of the policy. I fail to see the problem here.Or are you suggesting non-profits should receive zero-deductible insurance?
Solid Muldoon: I know it is hard to catch thieves, but how hard could it be to find the basterd who is buying the stuff from them?
