A&E.   So it's a reality show about a dysfunctional family?

The (new) A&E actually attempting to make a show worthy of viewing? I'm shocked.

I really can't wait to see this. I think Highmore pulls off creepy very well. And the set production looks phenomenal

Spoiler: The mother dies.

Too bad it's set in modern times, so it can't be a real prequel.

That mom is hot.  I'd stuff her.

Kid looks just like Anthony Perkins.

I don't care how good it may be:  this is not a story that needs telling.  Everything you need to know about Norman's
backstory is explicated in PSYCHO.

/Yes, I am being predjudiced.  That's because, at best, a highly polished turd.

Vera Farmiga has always looked hot.  And fun.  Like, just enough crazy to make the sex awesome, but not enough for her to want to deball you afterwards.

Yep. I just DON'T CARE about his troubled childhood and how evil Mother was. I already know.

I'm sure it will be a fabulous show. I just won't be watching it.

Right.  It was only ever meant to be a spooky, disposable campfire story.  From back in the days when interstate highways crisscrossed the country, and people were just starting to explore outside all the little pre-interstate cultural pockets.  It preyed on the fears of early roadtrippers.  There isn't enough there to support any kind of longer narrative.

I kind of like that it's not. Check out Psycho IV. It's a prequel/sequel (about 90% / 10%, respectively) and it was surprisingly good. And it kind of makes it so that if they did this as a prequel to the original, it would just feel like we're retreading old territory. Making this one modern gives the feeling of a fresh start, like they're not necessarily bound to what's already been established.

I like the idea. I'm excited. It would be nice to have more story/character-driven horror on TV.

It definitely has potential, so long as it's not Melrose Place with murders. I'm just grateful there's no vampires in it. Between true blood and vampire diaries, tv horror has gotten pretty awful. Luckily there's the Walking Dead, and maybe this will be good as well

How do you get the viewers to tune in to your channel to watch this program that is so divergent from the balance of your programming?  If I hadn't seen this thread here, I would have never even known it was coming on because I avoid their current line up like the plague.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I'll go into this with the same low expectation I do for every new horror show. That way, if it's good, I can say I was "pleasantly surprised". Of course, if it's not, then I get to take a smug "told you so" attitude. Best of both worlds!

It worked out for AMC. I never would have guessed Walking Dead would be on AMC

AMC already had a reputation for scripted shows. Madmen and Breaking Bad got things going. When was the last time A&E had a non-reality show?

I'm hooked on the First 48, though I'm now convinced DNA stands for Dead Nubian Analysis

Thank you!  The remake was shiat.  The biggest pile of shiat that ever shiat a shiat.  At 30 years old, the original Willy Wonka is still my all-time favorite movie.  Tim Burton can eat 13 bags of dicks.  His formulaic movies are garbage.

/Unapologetic
