It's really very simple.

Not gay:
- Sodomizing JV players with a broom stick
- Playing soggy biscuit
- Competing to see who can cram the most bing cherries up his ass
- Slapping erections together until someone cries uncle

Gay:
- Two dudes kissing

My eighth grade U.S. History teacher, mid-1980s, once gave us an amazing rant about how Madonna was a "whore" and real Hollywood performances died when John Wayne passed away. I remember staring at him in shock because up to then, I'd only ever seen the word in print, and just assumed it was pronounced "war."

What I don't get is he said he doesn't believe in gay people. Gay people exist, they're not like leprechauns or the Easter Bunny. You can't stay you don't believe in something that we can prove exists. That's like saying you don't believe in gravity or something.

jso2897: Maybe I'm just old fashioned. When I was in high school, if I had ever gotten up in class and discussed Ladybird Johnson or Pat Nixon's "fat ass", or referred to some group of people as queers, or kikes, or beaners or whatever....well, I don't even know what would have happened, and don't want to think about it.
And a teacher?? It would have been their last day in any classroom in the LAUSD. There was a certain decorum expected in a classroom setting, and it went double for the teachers - who were expected to be role models, and set good examples. That people are defending this immature fool's inappropriate behavior just because they find his so-called "opinions" to their liking kind of shocks me. If this is what's going on in the schools these days, it makes me that much gladder my kids are grown and out of school now.
My lawn. Get off it.

Also, unlike most mainstream news outlets, Fox News actually bends over backwards to include both "left" and "right" viewpoints on their air.

You have been misinformed.

I stand corrected. But it's fair to say homosexuality is not widely accepted. And I'd wager that graph would look different for Alabama only. And since, as we can all agree, the federal government had no mandate to preach morality....

I'm just saying can't we let idiots be idiots? Does every single stupid comment have to result in a societal "teachable moment?"

It's friggin impossible to say anything anymore without someone running to a legislature or higher civil authority to seek help. If someone disagrees with the guy, how about just telling the guy he's a douche and moving on?

That's why I think his comment about telling the school board was spot on. Every single transgression these days has to be brought to the attention of some level of government. We are becoming reliant on the man.

Discuss.

He wasn't in the local dive bar or gunning it up with his buddies at the local range. He was in a public school classroom in a position of authority in front of students while collecting a paycheck from the government.

But you know all that and you know how wrong it is. You're just bored. There are better hobbies out there, bro.
