He's not a dumbass, just a disappointed fan.  This king of stuff happens a lot in pro sports.

How does that make him a dumbass, exactly?

The player formerly known as Prince.

This is why you never buy a jersey with a current player's name on it.

I own a Tayshaun, bought in 2004. I think I'll keep it.

However, if anyone wants to make me an offer on my Detroit Lions Joey Herrington jersey, I'm all ears.

It's too bad Prince will be forgotten like 10 seconds after he retires. From '03-04 to '08-09 he didn't miss a single game for the Pistons, averaged about 14pts, 5reb, 3ast, and only about a foul a game while being extremely effective on defense. Not a Hall of Famer but a definite member of the Hall of Really Good.

My Pujols jersey agrees. I didn't buy it though.

I'm a Pistons fan, but this is still my favorite Tayshaun video.

I don't know, I don't think my cousin is ever letting go of his Ed Reed jersey, even if he ends up on the Patriots next year.

Yeah I really don't get this sentiment, especially for a player that's been with the Pistons as long as Prince has or Reed with the Ravens. It's not like buying a Rasheed Wallace Atlanta Hawks jersey.

Also this guy has a Kentucky shirt on underneath, so he probably goes back a ways with Prince.

White guy too.

Probably a primary Kentucky fan, especially since the game was in Indiana which is the nearest NBA team to the vast majority of the state.  He was probably there just to see Prince.  I guess he can go to Memphis now which isn't too much farther away.

My KG jersey is hanging nervously in the closet...

/waiting for the Cs to be blown up
//losing him or Pierce would gut me

Don't worry, based on the people I see in the stands at the Pistons games, it wont be long before the whole team is moved.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure those Montana and Rice 49ers jerseys were still worth something when they were in KC and Oakland, respectively.

/And anyone who'd give away a Peyton Manning Colts jersey now that he's in Denver is a potato-grade moran.

Do you watch a lot of Pistons games in San Antonio or are you attempting to be clever?

I don't watch much NBA any more, but back in the mid 2000's, this guy was as good a defender as they come.

Given the way Detroit has been mismanaged over the past few years, I don't blame any fan for jumping ship, much less taking off a jersey. Hell, the Pistons underachieved even during their 2000s heyday. Six ECF series, two wins, only one title??? As weak as the East was that decade, that's pathetic.

Eh, depends.

I'm a Red Wings fan. All of mine are Detroit lifers, or guys I like enough that even if their run is short, it's worth it. Datsyuk, Holmstrom and McCarty are or were lifers. Bertuzzi is a great team guy and reclamation story. Helm's going to be there a long damn time.

It's not like the one guy I see wandering around in the Mio jersey- 50 games in Detroit over 3 seasons, only 10 wins in net.

Eddie Mio? Man that's so obscure I'd give you 50/50 odds that the guy you see walking around with the Mio jersey is actually Eddie Mio.

Don't think so- doesn't look much like him, but maybe.

For my friends I try to buy them their teams jersey of the worst player I can think of. My buddy (a jets fan) got a Ghoston Jersey recently. Amazing how cheap they can be. Joey Harrington could be nice, but I think Detroit can do better.

That's a great sports moment, well done to the cameraman/producer to capture that.

Fans make sports.

I can see why that is a disappointment, but I've never understood the big deal. If you like a player enough to wear his name around like a chump or a 7 year-old you'd think that the memory of him being on the team would cover the fact that he was traded. I mean, I can understand if he left in a huff and gave everyone the finger on the way out of town, but if he was just bargained off what's the problem?

2013-02-02 07:53:19 PM
I like Prince, however, he was the reason why we didn't go after Dewayne Wade or Bosh. Shoot, we could have had Carmelo.

2013-02-02 08:51:53 PM
LBJ clowned him in the 2006 playoffs. He was never the same. Also had a lot of passive aggressive angst when that team blew up.

2013-02-02 09:05:25 PM
I believe Tayshaun Prince is the last Piston remaining that was on the 2004 championship team.

Wish his time with the Pistons had ended better.  Oh well....here's wishing him well.
