Lavender tastes like soap. I made some lavender wine once - it was awful.

I was hoping it would be ham-flavored and called "Liz Lemon Party."

Lavender isn't a bad thing to have around the house.  Broads like it and it's useful for cooking and some homeopathic ointments.

It's not common in the US.  It's not fattening enough to put in everything

I love lavender.  But, I'm gay, so that should be expected.

Lavender Earl Grey is one of my favorite teas.  And I've had a lot of lavender syrup flavored sodastream water.  That's great stuff.

Lavender is easy to over do.

Too much and you get a bitter floral soap flavor.

Otherwise, it is wonderful.

That they managed to slide in such a subversive joke right under the noses of standards and practices shows you how absolutely sublime the geniuses writing that show were.

It will be missed.

Wasn't consuming lavender linked to estrogen production?  I seem to remember a big deal being made a few years back about not rinsing baby bottles with lavender soap as it was causing premature development.

A place near me makes lavender cocktails. If done right it's nice. If they use too much it's not so nice.

I don't really understand the whole 'blech, it tastes like soap!' concept.  Is it because certain aromas are associated with scented soaps?  But smell and taste are usually inextricably connected senses, so wouldn't most pleasant scents (such as those chosen for soaps) be widely considered as pleasant tasting as well?  Maybe I'm crazy; I do love floral flavors, lavender, rose, cilantro, rosemary, all that stuff.

A local Seattle company, Molly Moon's, makes honey lavender ice cream that is swoon-worthy.

Probably people who haven't had it in the proper amounts. It certainly tastes oily and bitter if they overdo it.

Had a kicker of a Lavender IIPA a couple years ago. Ahtanum, Cascades, Chinook, Goldings, Crystal The lavender made a nice backup to the Ahtanum.

Lavender tastes pretty awesome. I'll have to try it.
I just finished a bowl of Willie Nelson's Peach Cobbler ice cream and I bet it'd be even better if I had smoked a big fattie first.

The AV Club played this whole string out a few days ago. By the end of the comments, I believe every single word that was ever spoken in the show was somehow incorporated into a proposed flavor.

Huge fan of both. Fun scent - mix equal parts rosemary & lime oils, warm. Pleasant.

There are huge bushes of lavender around my house. Now I feel the urge to make lavender infused vodka... or would rum be better for this purpose?

Which syrup do you like best? I've wanted to try that for awhile. Curious about making some rose-flavored soda too.

Both sound interesting, but make sure you have the right kind of lavender. Certain varieties are used for soaps, others for foods, etc.
