Two reported dead, yeah, but that includes the suicide bomber.

FTFA: ... killing himself and one other person, officials said.

U.S.  Ambassador Francis Ricciardione told reporters that a guard at the gate was killed in the 1:15 p.m. blast, and a Turkish citizen was wounded.

Maybe it's just me, but that seems like a terribly inefficient way to kill a guy.

Clearly, the solution is to strap explosives to the torsos of everybody stationed at an embassy. People have a right to protect themselves by blowing themselves up first.

Those are probably banned by some Lib'tard's gun control law.

Would YOU break into an embassy if the owners might have a nuclear device? Its a useful deterant... in the UK they know you can't protect yourself, so they just wait for the embassy staff to show up so they can strongarm you and take the keys to your diplomatic vehicle etc.

A CBS News analyst just  put two and two together and got countries-starting-with-I.

CBS News senior correspondent John Miller, a former deputy director in the National Intelligence Director's office, says al Qaeda will be one of the first groups considered as suspect in the attack, but he also notes the recent Israeli airstrike in Syria, for which Damascus and its staunch ally Iran vowed to retaliate.
Iran, Miller says, has extensive intelligence operations in Turkey, and its Islamic militant group ally, Hezbollah, also has significant assets there.
"Iran, in terms of retribution, would stack Israel and the U.S. together," says Miller.

Oh, joy.

Another Embassy attack, two more dead.  As Hillary said, "What difference, at this point, does it make?" who was responsible or why it was attacked or what the administration says caused the attack or what can we do to prevent another attack.

Embassies are going to get attacked here and there.  Americans are going to perish in those attacks.  The important thing we have to focus on now is forcibly removing legally owned guns from law abiding citizens.

If he'd called it stupid violence, he'd be painted as an elitist that thinks these types of attacks are beneath him and he isn't paying enough attention to the threat.

Personally, I'm skeptical of the Kurdish angle.  It could be some really extreme offshoot but generally Kurds like Americans.  While the US doesn't officially support the creation of Kurdistan, we've pushed pretty heavily for the Iraqi Kurds to have a fair measure autonomy, we biatch out the Turks for human rights violations, etc.  When I was in Turkey, I felt completely safe in the Kurd heavy parts.  Lots of stories about how some relative had moved to America and was doing great or how things were so much better for their relatives over in Iraq thanks to the fall of Saddam, etc.

No, not fixed.

born_yesterday: Abe Vigoda's Ghost: revman64: You have to wonder about the suicide bomber thought process.  You must have thought about maximum damage when strapping those explosives on.  Would you really choose to end your life at the gate with one local guard present or turn around and go home, waiting for another opportunity?

Those 72 virgins aren't going to sit around waiting forever,

Good point because after awhile they just become 72 wives and who wants that?  Also, what's the female suicide bomber reward, 72 Chippendales dancers?

Condolences to his or her family and friends.

This is what Democrats actually think.

Care to bet totalfark on whether some talking hairdo on FauxNews of 'wing radio turns it into an excuse to call the administration incompetent, scandalous, or calls for war against our NATO ally before the weekend's out?

Is this just a yes/no bet, or can we pick an over/under on the number of them?

Any points for smug smirks from these assholes?

It speaks volumes for the state of political discourse in this country, when a Democrat is in the White House and tragedy strikes,  that nobody will bet against Republicans being dicks ...

Yes.  First thing that Jay Carney said.  ""The attack itself was clearly an act of terror," Jay Carney, White House spokesman, said in a briefing with reporters."

And if the tables were turned, I'm sure there would be an equal amount of Democrats being dicks.
Welcome to the two party system, where politicians are generally dicks.

I'm just in the 'sh*t happens' camp. Obama, or anyone else can't stop crazies from strapping on a bomb and taking one for the crazy team. You can have the best intel in the world, but small terror cells operate under the radar. Hopefully you try and harden your defenses, and keep the damage and loss of lives to a minimum. Such as the case was here.

I have to know - how did you get into your position? I'm studying NGO conflict resolution, and want to take it into a field similar to the forest project, more into the food supply side. Good luck in Turkey - it's really an amazing country!

If there's one thing you haven't a hint of a platform to stand on, it's talking about or accepting the truth. Now, continue your whirly-derp, I know better than to actually attempt to debate you on any points. I'll happily laugh, though. You're damn comical and I enjoy mocking you.

Hmm intersting. So when Clinton stated that the attack was originally cause by a youtube video.... seriously... how can the secretary of state be this stupid. Oh right, Obama picked her.

I just find it funny when Republicans try to call liberals stupid.  But, I guess it makes sense.  You are delusional in most other topics also.

stevenboof: jaybeezey: SilentStrider: Satanic_Hamster: The two dead are the suicide bomber and a Turkish guard.  No Republican will care.

They'll pretend to care if it'll make them look outraged.

From what i've seen in thread, no one cares about the dead.

Bombs kill so few people in a year, whereas cars and abortions kill so many more.  Why should we care about one guy killed when millions others don't even have the chance at life?

So you are advocating that we create a ban on abortions by use of car?

No, not fixed.

The only thing that stops a bag guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.  And were not talking about guns anymore.  We need to be equipping those Marines with suicide vests otherwise were going to be outgunned and sending them to their deaths needlessly.

You totally left out lack of bullets.  If the bad guy runs out of bullets a big stick can stop him fine.  Now if only we had a large population of genetically inferior individuals who constantly vote to harm the country I live in that could be used as bad guy bullet absorbers.  And yes, I am advocating for the majority of the (R) and the plague they represent to disappear.

Considering the recent history of that region, I doubt its the lack of things or people willing to explode that makes these attacks rare.
More likely its their law enforcement's ability and willingness to incarcerate, torture or kill the attackers surviving family members, friends, neighbors, associates, Mosque attendants, pets, etc...
Not that this sort of thing is right or in any way morally justified, but we can't say that instilling the fear of God in people doesn't show results.

/You can keep the peace by either being noble and just or bloodthirsty and unscrupulous.
/A high standard of living means people aren't as willing to go out with a bang for a pittance of reward money.

born_yesterday: Ishkur: Clearly, the solution is to strap explosives to the torsos of everybody stationed at an embassy. People have a right to protect themselves by blowing themselves up first.

The only thing that stops a bad suicide bomber is a good suicide bomber.

Laws preventing embassy personnel from owning and wearing high yield neutron devices only encourages this sort of thing.
