Why?  If you get caught, you're going to jail anyway.

$5000 per pound?!

What kind of bullshiat cop-math is this? I know the price has gone up, but day-umm! it was more like $500 per pound back in the day, and I don't think the price has risen by an order of magnitude.

Exactly.

My first thought was "How do you car jack someone while carrying a truckload of weed with you?"

You can't carry half a million dollars of weed!

If it is actually at all possible to lug around a half million dollars worth of pot while on a carjacking spree, then I seriously think it's time to rethink the war on drugs.  Throw open the gates, make it legal, and suddenly every unemployed or welfare recipient could be a millionaire with a simple window herb garden.  There, I just solved every economic problem ever.  Send me a check for 5%.

Marijuana? Drug dealers???

Why would you want to mess with all that when you can just go to the dispensary and buy whatever great strain you want?

what's that? only a few states? Damn...

Either that's some serious cop math, or the carjacker in question is REALLY farking strong.

FTA: He estimated the value at $495,000, based on a sale price of $10 per gram.

109 lbs = 49441.6 grams

So they would have to sell to 49441.6 buyers? Nice assumption, idiots...

Their estimation-inflation is going to bite them in the ass when people read stuff like that and think they can retire early just by selling a truck load of product.

So he stole the SUV so he could then mule around a half mil of weed?  Smart!

43 200 grams
cause yeah that's how they'll sell it.

To: cop math haters

Having consulted with acquaintances in-the-know; even when broken down to a 1/4 lb price structure, 5K/lb isn't out of line for medical-grade stuff.  Regardless, cop math is not to be taken as accurate.

This ... $500,000 / 1600 ounces = $312.50/ounce ... Uh, that's actually sorta low for the decent stuff.

Last time I bought weed, it was between $30 and $35 per ounce. And that was for the good stuff. Ditchweed and "Behind Grandpa's Barn" was about $20.

I think it's actually a safe assumption that, like with most goods, you save in bulk, so this price ends up not all that far off. The $10 a gram that they started figuring out from isn't as ridiculous when you realize that they are talking about product that is likely worth a bit more than that, but is down to $10 due to the massive bulk rate you get with pounds. I like to laugh at cop math most of the time too, but they either stumbled on to a reasonable answer here and explained it poorly, or they actually did have a clue this time.

Something tells me the "regular" stuff of today is more similar to what you remember as the good stuff than the medical grade floating around today. The actual dirt product is still super crazy cheap and available, but it's just as easy to get better now for most people, as far as I can tell.

My 401k has taken a pounding so that's my new plan.  No fee's, no moron broker and, if the concept goes bust?  I still get three hots and a cot.

Actually 100 lbs at per-gram pricing of $10 is nearly $450k.  I told our Investment Committee that at current tiered medical cannabis pricing (they only sell here at per gram prices) that 100 lbs would go for $450k to $640k verses the $16 to $18 per houdred pounds of hay.  They were impressed, but the Feds would not let First Nations get away with following state cannabis legislation.  The Sioux tried to grow Hemp (for mixing with concrete) for construction block building materials (No TCH content as measured by Federal Labs) and Bush beyotch slapped them down big time!  It will be interesing when both cannabis and hemp are finally legal, as prices per pound should be more like other produce prices - maybe $20 -$30 per pound) unless major sin taxes like for alcohol or tobacco are levied!)   "Hemp for Victory" should not just be a Government approved WWII slogan!

If someone has 100 lbs, they are not selling ounces. They will be lucky to get 2K/Lb. dropping it in 10 lb lots or larger.
Even for single pounds people are lucky if they can get $3000, $2500 being more common with many settling for $2000.
At least that's how it is in production areas. One can get more going to different markets with some paying upwards of $4000/lb, which is where you get the motivation to drive or mail large amounts of herbage.

Uh, what? $30 and $35 an OUNCE??? Da fuq? You must either be an old timer that remembers back when cars cost $200, or you were buying the shiattiest green known to man.  $35 gets you an eighth or a 1/4 of the shiatty stuff anymore.

Yeah, I pay about 60 for a slice... so... honestly, if they're going street value, not wholesale, they're not far off.

$60 is a mom and pop pizza slice made with care. It's an experience. Dominos is like asking a Jr. High kid for the hookup.
