John McCain is a mean asshole. If Hagel were nominated by a GOP prez, he'd have spent his time talking about how great Hagel was.

2013-01-31 05:13:18 PM
They were definitely being dicks to Hagel.  But it wasn't the best performance on his part either.  We all knew what he'd be facing in these hearings.

That's gotta be a Jennifer Rubin blog. Hadn't seen her posted here in a while. I'd thought, perhaps optimistically, she'd gone away.
Shame on the Washington Post for continuing to publish her in any form. Next up, the New York Times hires Pamella Geller.

Even more damaging was the brilliant - there is no other word for it - interrogation from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) who challenged him to name one senator "intimidated" by the "Jewish lobby" and to name "one dumb thing" the United States did as a result of that intimidation. He couldn't.

Oh fark you. Anyone who denies the gravity exerted on politicians by organizations like AIPAC is living in a fantasy world. It's not an easy question to answer. They don't force anyone to do anything. They just drag the discourse in their general direction and let everyone else do the work.

She may be entirely correct, but the article is invalid because Jennifer Rubin.

2013-01-31 05:46:54 PM
If Hagel can't get confirmed, President Obama should just go into full troll mode and nominate Rand Paul or Mitt Romney or John McCain, and then sit back and watch the feeding frenzy commence.

Also, Jennifer Rubin's farts from her mouth and poops through her keyboard.

Nadie_AZ: John McCain is a mean asshole.

ATTENTION Sarah Palin (and her teatard fan base):

What McCain was doing?  THAT is a fkn "gotcha" question.

/have you stop beating your wife, Senator?  YES or NO!!1!

2013-01-31 05:50:05 PM
I'm not thrilled with the Hagel nomination*, but Nadie_AZ is totally correct.

I'm not going to read a bunch of Jennifer Rubin crap, but it's my understanding that at one point in the questioning, noted intellect Ted Cruz played a clip of Hagel appearing on Al-Jazeera taking questions from a caller. Apparently, Hagel didn't refute something the caller said and that was Cruz's evidence that Hagel hates America and Israel or something.. That's some fine politicking, Ted.

/*I don't like nominating a Republican to the position and reinforcing the idea that Democrats shouldn't hold that job or that Democrats need a Republican to do it for them.

Bwahahahahaha.

She's lucky to still be employed. Coont.

Uranus Is Huge!: President Obama should just go into full troll mode and nominate Rand Paul

I have been sort of thinking Obama should hire him for this role because the main reason that Obama wants Hagel is to oversee spending cuts in the defense sector.  Putting Rand Paul in charge of it would be the Republicans' worst nightmare, but at the same time, our defense department is too important to put a loon in charge.  The heads of the GOP just learned that lesson for all of us, unfortunately.

FishyFred: Even more damaging was the brilliant - there is no other word for it - interrogation from Sen. Lindsey Graham

There is no other word for it! She writes like a goddamned gossip columnist.

And yes, clearly the lobbyists Hagel was referring to wield little to no power, as demonstrated by a former Republican Senator having confirmation trouble with current Republican Senators because he dared mention their existence once.

Ha! And I think he has actually stood by his position to cut defense spending.
Only problem is, McConnell...  Bunning... then Paul... I'm not sure I want to see what Kentucky shiats at the rest of us next.

Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) did an immense amount of danger

Don't do the danger!

It's funny how you liberals will defend a republican as long as he is basically Jimmy Carter with an R before his name. The moron is a democrat who ran as a republican in order to win a seat from democrats who were even dumber than he was.
His Iranian ass kissing is unacceptable, but keep on sucking up. You realize he is against women's' rights, homosexuality, etc...
You know, everything liberals stand for.

In your native language, does the word for 'to mock' look and sound like the word for 'to cry'? Because then, you'd almost make sense.

I was about to read this and then I saw the byline.......
Right Turn : Jennifer Rubin's take from a conservative perspective

Well, no need to read that article. It is just a spin of her last 50 literary tripes with the names changed.

Good ole Jen babe....still spewing after being shown (again) to be a total knucklehead during and after the election. This clownette feasts on derp mutton morning, noon and night and rarely, if ever, even comes close to getting it right.

I would think that the answer would be 1) Senator Hagel and 2) Having a candidate for Secretary of State grilled on whether or not he's sufficiently loyal to Israel.

Was Hagel wrong in his assessment of the surge being the worst disaster since Vietnam, yes he was.

Was the surge a success, absolutely not. It was an utter failure. It failed to achieve its stated goals in the stated timeline. It did have a positive effect on the overall outcome of the war but that does not change the fact that it failed in its goals.

It doesn't matter that you wrote a good solid B paper when you hand it in a year after the due date and it isn't even on the assigned subject. You still get an F for the assignment.

I'm pretty certain most modern GOPers won't be invited to the Mensa meeting, so there's that.

There is some Pareto Principal action going on there...reverse or otherwise I am not sure.

To answer the 5% question - because 25% of the country is estimated to have mental illness. Of that 25%, 4 out of 5 don't have computers and the other fifth are related to Jennifer Rubin. Or something like that.

He's nominated to be the Secretary of Defense, he'll execute the policies of the President... if you were asking whether or not the guy was someone for whom I would vote as a represenative or Senator, the answer is probably not... but this guy is not nominated for those jobs. He can't go to war on his own, he doesn't decide whether or not the US imposes unilateral sanctions, and he can't tell the sun not to come up in the morning, you disingenuous fark.

McCain is just pissed off at Hagel, just like he was at Susan Rice for daring to criticize McCain's foreign policy judgement. The man can hold a grudge like no other. Graham does whatever McCain does, but he also feasts at the trough of the defense budget massively.
