Girls are like square roots.  If they are under 16, just do them in your head.

Is it me or does anyone else think that this does not deserve a similar sentence to 2nd degree murder?

TeddyRooseveltsMustache: Was there this big of a teacher-diddlin'-student problem 20-30 years ago? It seems like teachers today can't get enough of those sexy sexy teens! Although maybe back then it wasn't as widely reported as it is now with the internet and all.

20-30 years ago the students would just high-five and get on with their life. Since then we've been teaching kids over and over that they should be emotionally scarred by having sex with someone over 18. I blame the "every child is a unique snowflake" crowd.

/It probably just wasn't as widely reported or the teacher fired instead of jailed.

I think it has less to do with "unique snowflake" and more to do with "teachers shouldn't screw students."

If this girl was the neighborhood whore and these seven boys(including the 16yo) went to her house and ran a train on her most people wouldn't give a shiat one way or the other. Even most parents. The fact that she's a teacher and is in a position of authority(over kids) plus she's held to a higher public trust is the problem. This story is sort of local and our News station covered it last night. They mentioned that the age of consent in Ga is 16 but that's not the problem. The problem is that it's illegal for a teacher to screw a student. Any student. Even students from another school. I'd also add, female teachers doing this to male students may not be seen as that big of a deal, but if it's not, then male teachers screwing female students shouldn't be either. And personally I'd have a major problem if it were either of my daughters involved with these scumbags. A big problem. And it used to be "no big deal" when one spouse beat the shiat out of the other until society decided that it was wrong and changed it. Same thing applies here.

So teachers should not be allowed to love the same way everyone else does? What if a teacher and a student from different schools fall in love at - lets say - a Star Trek convention without even knowing about the evil abusive student-teacher relationship?

Your country was once considered the "land of the free" but now it's just a joke of overprotective, sue-happy, irresponsible people who will administer blame on everyone and everything as long as it is not themselves.

And to be clear: If your daughters get involved with one of "these scumbags" it's probably because you treat them like little dolls in a plastic bubble and they want to give you the finger the royal way. Good thing you can lock some innocent person up to distract yourself from your own idiocy.

went to an all boys Jesuit HS and they hired a smoking hot English teacher my junior year.  the joke was that she was banging at least a a handful of guys (including being pretty open about it with one at the St. PAt's parade in Southie).  we all thought it was b.s. and just talk but poof - she was gone right after that year for "undisclosed reasons."

I think it has always happened, just people are now less crafty about hiding it and as they say, everything you email or post online lives forever somewhere
