United not going to sign anyone according to Sir Alex yesterday.  Here is what BBC is reporting so far:

In SummaryDavid Beckham to sign for Paris St-GermainBeckham press conference live at 1600 GMTBalotelli completes £19m move to AC MilanQPR sign defender Chris Samba for £12.5m
I always thought Spurs should have gone after Samba when he was leaving Blackburn. Strong CB who is good in the air and Spurs have had CB problems for a long time, especially when Samba was available.  Looks like Harry finally came around.

Beckham signing for PSG is pretty laughable. Will he ever get playing time?

Ha ha, you wish.

So Danny Graham's gone to Sunderland, Hue Gomes is leaving Spurs for Hoffenheim, and Harry Houdini might be in for Peter Crouch.

Deadline day is weird.

This; it's annoying as hell when Wenger excuses the lack of signings saying things like "we have a big enough squad" then complaining about the lack of depth three weeks later.

As much as I'll always appreciate what Wenger's done for the club, I don't want Arsenal to go the way of Forest when Clough was running things.  I'll take my chances letting him go and taking the flack for doing so.

It was news to me too.

Harry trying for a last minute swoop of Peter Odemwingie, who I'm absolutely mystified to find out that he's 31. Swore he was younger than that.

Stimied in a Rut: United not going to sign anyone according to Sir Alex yesterday. Here is what BBC is reporting so far:

SAF has long maintained that January is not a good time to buy, for two reasons. First, too many clubs are desperate and bid up the prices. Second, it's much harder to integrate players into the squad and the system and have them make an impact this late in the season -- much more so for a club that's doing well than for one that's doing badly.

Interestingly, Zaha is the one big acquisition, and he's staying at Palace until the end of the season. Presumably SAF believed that if he didn't get him now, somebody else would.

The last significant signing SAF made in January that I can recall was Vidic (2006), and again there was stiff competition and SAF didn't feel he could afford to wait.

Deadline Day broke Twitter. Somehow this is QPR's fault.

Butland's gone to Stoke. He's on loan to Birmingham for the rest of the season.
Really wish we were in for him.

It is a smart move by PSG (or any other club who could sign him).  The marketing kick you get from having him is worldwide.  Whether he plays more than 5 mins in any game is beside the point when it comes to Beckham.

Falcao's release is 55 million. Good try though, you get an A for wishful thinking.
But in all seriousness, rumor mill says Wenger's putting out feelers for an emergency loan for a left back until Gibbs gets un-crocked.

I've seen it as 28 million pounds, which is roughly 45ish million dollars. Regardless, it ain't happening.

He's got to get somebody to stand in for Gibbs, Santos won't cut it for three weeks, or however long Gibbs is actually out.

Yeah, some panic shopping for a left back is Arsenal's #1 priority. I don't hate Santos, I really don't...unless he's actually in the game falling down, getting caught too far up and basically pretending he's a training ground cone while wingers dribble around him.

He's useless. I wonder if they could just make him a winger?

Now we get to see Becks mumble something in French.
Or maybe in Spanish.

You know, it's quite sad how the world press keeping fellating Beckham.

Becks is only in France to help his wife's fashion line. He's not going to be worth anything to PSG on the pitch.

Wow, that raises him a few levels in my book. Too bad he had to play for (shudders) LA Galaxy.

What I love is that almost every article says that now that Arsenal has to sign Bong they can't sign a strike. Like there's not enough money there.

Would have really liked it had they signed M'Vila.

It was interesting, back in December the PSG bosses said they had no interest in him. I bet Becks bribed them with a bunch of H&M gift cards.
