That guy in Alabama who shot a school bus driver and kidnapped a 5 year old kid is already working on that.

So what's stopping Huntsman from running as an independent if he thinks the Republicans are insane and the Democrats are incompetent?

Anything that gets the Huntsman daughters back in the spotlight is good for America. Huntsman could run with Bloomberg if Bloomberg would promise to stop telling reporters to check out Mary Anne's cans.

Can't we just jump straight to the part where we find out that, due to a kooky misunderstanding, the GOP has replaced by its identical twin brother the entire time?

C/P from my post in thread number 548754987 about how to fix the conservative movement.

Conservatives: What are we doing wrong?
Conservative "Leaders": We need to get more votes if we're going to win elections!
Conservatives: Brilliant!  But how?
Conservative "Leaders": Lets just pretend we're getting more votes!
*2012 happens*
Conservatives:Our plan to change reality with our imaginations failed!  What do we do now?
Conservative "Leaders": What if we got people who didn't vote for us before to vote for us now?
Conservatives:  What, you mean like cloning new old white people?
Conservative "Leaders":  I don't think that's legal...or possible.
Conservatives:   Then how?
Conservative "Leaders":  What if we got all the people we've spent our whole lives telling, by our words and actions, how much we hated them, like minorities, women, the poor, and homosexuals, to vote for us?
Conservatives:   How do we do that?
Conservative "Leaders":  Well, we tell them to ignore the last several decades, including our current policies, and believe that we like them and are helping them now.
Conservatives:   Do we have to ACTUALLY like and help them?
Conservative "Leaders":  Of course not, we'll just pretend.  We won't ACTUALLY change our policies one iota.
Conservatives:   Brilliant!  Wait, pretending didn't work so great last time.  What makes you think it will work this time?
Conservative "Leaders":  *Shrug* I just need enough time in the media sounding "reasonable" to be a frontrunner in 2016.

Surprising there havent been any serious party defections - I recall when Newt and the gang made their run there were a number of conservative (D's) that made the switch to get in the majority.  I wonder if the Democrats ever manage to take the house back if there won't be a number of people who decide that's the time to bail from the crazy train.

Throw in a few lines about changing the entire foundation of how elections work to favor heavily gerrymandered districts and disenfranchising millions and I believe you've got it.

How now, GOP? Whither wander you?

GOP
 Over hill, over dale,
 Thorough bush, thorough brier,
 Over park, over pale,
 Thorough flood, thorough fire.
 I do wander everywhere
 Swifter than the moon's sphere.
 And I serve the 1%
To dew thier orbs upon the green.
The derpers tall her pensioners be.
In their gold coats spots you see.
 Those be rubes, fairy favors.
In those freckles live their savors.
I must go seek some derp here
And hang a pearl in every derpers ear.
Farewell, thou lob of spirits. I'll be gone.

He seems like a nice guy, but I can't vote for him. Bush Jr. seemed like a nice guy, but he turned out to be a lying sack of shiat with an secret agenda as big as all outdoors. Scott Walker seemed like a nice guy, but he too turned out to be a lying sack of shiat with an secret agenda as big as all outdoors. Rick Snyder seemed like a nice guy,  but when given the opportunity to massively screw over the unions in his state, he couldn't resist the temptation despite his word to the contrary. Repubs are the party of desperation, they can't win by running on their genuine beliefs so they lie through their teeth and say whatever they feel they need to say to get into power. And then they pull out a huge secret agenda and laugh at you for being stupid enough to believe them. Sorry, Mr. Huntsman, so long as you identify yourself as a repub, you simply can't be trusted.

Not bad, but you have to consider part of the party wants to fleece the lower classes of as much money as possible and another part of it thinks that those 'other people' are below them.

The republicans right now have one platform plank that they can't really be honest about.  Their whole goal is to help their corporate buddies and donors and THAT IS IT.  There is NO philosophy there.  This is the platform of the Democrats as well, but they are at least embarrassed about it and, on occasion, do something for a constituent.  Both parties are broken because of corporate money, though.
