I'm really worried about CNN butchering this. He's certainly got less creative control now than he did with the Travel Channel. CNN, DON'T F**K THIS UP.

I will never forgive this FOOD SNOB for what he said about Chili's.  Hey, if I wanna eat microwave burritos in a family setting then that's my business.  Sorry, but I don't like to eat gay salads and frou frou artsy food.

Personally, I much prefer Guy Fieri.  He wears cool shirts and I like his hair.

Under Gaddafi, he would have gotten that semi-regularly.

I can't imagine him, especially him, signing onto a deal where he does not have a near complete free hand to produce what he wants, according to him going to CNN was to allow more freedom in destinations. Why do you say he has less freedom now?

Why do you think that? He made the move and seems like the type of guy who would be pretty concerned with having full creative control. Can't really picturing him jumping ship to place where he will have less freedom.

Come see the pyramids. It is perfectly easy to avoid any of the protests in Cairo, and you will practically have the pyramids to yourself.

Coincidentally, slamming a rebel's nuts in a drawer was a favorite interrogation tactic of Gaddafi's female bodyguards.

His shows from Lebanon were excellent - so at this point i trust Jon Stewart more as an anchor and Bourdain more as an on site reporter than most of the . . . um . . . steaming buttholes i see on the major networks.

Yeah, fortunately/unfortunately we have Scandinavian ancestors.  I am sandy blonde with hazel green eyes, wife and both kids are blonde over blue.  Had a wonderful trip to the great wall, but talk about turd in a punchbowl, you could see us from orbit.

Anthony Bourdain's old show was about him going around the world and eating the various disgusting local foods, pig anus for example. That's a long way off from frou frou artsy food. Also, Chili's is crap, even you know it's crap. Doesn't mean it doesn't taste good, or you shouldn't eat there, but it's crap. You can't get mad at a chef for calling crap food crap food.

I'm glad Bourdain has a new project. I miss No Reservations, and The Layover just doesn't do it for me. I'm not a fan of cable news but will watch CNN for this (well, I'll DVR it), I just hope they don't rein in his personality or take away creative control.

I don't think Libya under Gaddafi is something one really NEEDS to personally experience to make that comparison.  And I believe his sentiment is more "how anyone can goddam white knight Gaddafi is farking retarded" than "I've been here and can personally recommend".

Just my take on it.

Well the beautiful part of this is that Bourdain is going to be talking to the people in Libya. He'll be sharing a meal with people who lived under Gaddafi and experienced the Arab Spring first hand. They can probably tell you how things have turned out better then anyone else.
