(Independent)   Ticketmaster dumps hard-to-read Captchas. "It is generally speaking one of the most hated pieces of user interaction on the web" say experts. Yes, and their Captchas are pretty annoying too   (independent.co.uk) divider line 16

fusillade762: it requires customers to enter in order to prove that they are human.

I'm honestly not sure why Ticketmaster would care.

Because you don't want robots flooding the servers buying all the tickets before a human has a chance to enter their first name.

The time is 7:59 and the robot polls are now opening ... and the robot vote is in. Nixon has won!

I thought they were dropping human verification altogether - as anyone who's run a forum can tell you there's no way around it. Anything left open on The Grid will be torn apart faster than you can say

LOL because when Sparkfun webstore had a "free day" of prizes, they decided to defeat the people hitting "reload" incessantly and scripting reloads with a ReCaptcha solution equaling an entry.  So, no scripting.  Just endless captchas, some hilariously being Greek letters with no interpretation, just to piss you off really.

oldtaku: Ticketmaster does not otherwise give one fark whether it annoys users.

Of course they do. All other things being equal, they would prefer to annoy their users.

whidbey: HERO tag trumps INTERESTING.

Seriously, fark Captcha. Fark it long and hard.

Here's a fun fact: If you gave Ticketmaster the HERO tag, the universe would implode.

Funny how people bemoan captchas on a site with flood protection.
