This is AWESOME! All that's required for a fark greenlight are modest photoshop skillz.

[appropriate meme stolen from Futurama]

I didn't read TFA but upon reflection, if someone had to make a Simpsons live action film I can think of very few actors who'd play Moe half as well as Buscemi could.

2013-01-30 05:40:33 PM
Steve Buscemi would actually be too pretty for the role.

My God, I just uttered a line that no one ever thought would be spoken out loud, like "Donald Trump is a really cool dude" or "Guy Fieri's food is the epitome of culinary perfection"

This is the harshest thread ever. Makes me wish Buzzfeed worked for me so I could see shiat.

You'd know it. Groening's fist-pumping would likely be felt for hundreds of miles in every direction. They'd have to put out a tsunami warning.

Unless that quote about him being happy if all he had to do was Futurama was an internet untruth. I'm too lazy to hunt it down now.

I was just thinking Selma and Patty must also dye their hair, but then I looked it up. They have slightly more natural looking colors in their hair but they're still sort of a purpleish color.

Still doesn't really explain as to why the Simpsons produced yellow-haired children, though. I guess yellow is blonde and thus double-recessive.

Yes the photoshop was a bag of shiat... I think that was the point though

Bill Murray would have been better as Homer. Steve Buscemi was a spot on Moe, and I have to admit, I totally agree with William H Macy as Flanders (hadn't even considered him)

weird, we know what Marge's dad looks like, but that pic doesn't include him. He also had blue hair when he was a airline steward, but it turned to brown when she was a teenager in high school.

So I followed the trail to the "artist's" website, where he has this to say for himself:

Introducing... an artists impression of what a real-life Hollywood cast of the Simpsons characters would look like.

To coincide with the launch of my website www.bacreates.com/ I have created these characters in photoshop as a fun and entertaining way to get attention for the site launch and the launch of my graphic design business - Brad Anderson Creates.

I have spent a long, long time getting this to where it is today. I have trawled the internet for source images (hope no-one minds me using them). I have agonised over the casting of characters with actors. And now here it is... The Celebrity Simpsons Real-Life Hollywood Cast

I have spent a long, long time getting this to where it is today. I have trawled the internet for source images (hope no-one minds me using them). I have agonised over the casting of characters with actors. And now here it is... The Celebrity Simpsons Real-Life Hollywood Cast

Feel free to head over to his blog and let him know how much you appreciate his "agonizing" over this masterwork.

Is bursting bubbles a hobby with you? Do people do that?

/thanks for the info

Actually no...My hobby is goading other people into doing it for me.

Ok what got deleted? It wasn't everybody shiatting all over the art I can still see that. Wait was it all the people putting the images directly in this thread? Yeah Buzz Feed losing ad views = angry Buzz Feed.

Then again why didn't they fix that themselves.

Moe was the only one cast well. The rest were uniformly horrible. Maybe Reece as Lisa was ok too.

Bob_Laublaw: special20: Bob_Laublaw: Wow. The link I see as a TotalFARKer has brilliantly rendered Photoshop portraits. I reckon you get that for which you pay.

You reckon right, but aren't you just being a little mean? That link may end up taking down the entire internet... see what you've done? Well, step over here on this skewed plane of reality, and you'll see... it's all chaos and anarchy now because you encouraged everyone to click the link. You've single-handedly (potentially) cratered their very sensibilities and clogged every series of tubes. I hope you're happy.

Big Man On Campus: Now we're rebooting shows that have not yet ended?

Or did Simpsons end and I didn't know it?

After reading your post it occurred to me that I haven't seen a new Simpsons episode in, well, forever. I'm not trying to get all hipster on you; I just haven't seen one despite having every episode through the 90s on VHS (watched a dozen times each).

The last time I saw one was when I got drunk during a late NFL game and I couldn't find the remote. So I watched it in bed, too disabled to move.

One thing is for certain, though: When the Simpsons do finally end, it's gonna be a big deal. All the old fans will come back for that final huzzah.

THIS. The bad photoshop, plus stupid casting (Jen Aniston?), and the botchery of some names/details result in perhaps the worst Simpsons based article I've ever seen. And this isn't even an article!
At least it wasn't a slideshow.

Yeah, the casting....so BAD. The Jen Aniston bit was just reprehensibly star-sucking, and this is in an entire world of star-sucking! I mean...Vince Vaughn? The first six were apparently shopped from Entertainment Weekly (or something)...

OK, Bill Macy as Flanders may work (he has the panic!), And Colbert is actually a really good actor, but he doesn't play the toady very well...but as Burns? Only the creepy near-sexual evil of Crispin Hellion Glover. And I mean that in the BEST possible way. Or go the other way and finally get Peter O'Toole that Oscar! ... Get Mel farking Brooks as Krusty. Come on, really? You know you want it. Otto should be played by...who is a low-rent Robert Downey Jr.? Call Lohan's handlers...Hmmm....Milhouse? Me. It's that part I was born to play, baby!

And resist the urge to cast nearly ANY of the voice actors except as bit parts. They have NO on-camera experience, and it'll be fun online to figure out who is who. However, Harry Shearer gets his pick. He knows the characters and will go to any lengths to make them alive.

Now the big guns - as Homer, NOT John Goodman. I didn't see "The Flintstones", and neither did you. Although I love the guy.  I'm stumped. As Lisa, MAYBE that Dakota Fanning, but we'll need lots of forced-perspective and speed to make her short and bug out enough. Can't her parents spawn another one? Oh, they did? We might...just...have...a movie....

OK, our number one - Bart Simpson. Who let McGregor cross my desk? You get out - no, don't clear your desk. Go. NO, YOU WON'T GET YOU USELESS GARBAGE BACK! OK, whew. That was sinus-clearing! Allllright, back to our little, dated, then updated, rotten troublemaker...get me the cattle car from Oklahoma - one of those pathetic "Brigadoon"-loving-asses is gonna be a star!!!

Yeah. Back in the days the animation may have been crap, but there were well scripted episodes with genuine lols in each one. I think The Simpsons falling off the quality cliff may be linked to Groening doing Futurama. It certainly seems to have been around that time that I would find myself watching The Simpsons, and wondering why.

/Then again, I loved Futurama, but I've not gone out of my way to look up the new ones. TOS had a perfect run with a perfect ending.
//S'pose Groening et al. can make money more easily from retreading old characters rather than coming up with something new.

You and me sound like Simpsons brothers. I also think that the Simpsons quality declined DRAMATICALLY when Futurama came around. It really did feel like Groening took his talent elsewhere. But maybe during that period things changed. Family Guy and Futurama changed my expectations. I started watching Simpsons less and less, and it always seemed like I was catching reruns of the bad ones of the later seasons. I heard that the series started getting good again, I need to fire up the season 12+ DVDs to see when that happens.

Interesting for such a long running show they've continued to go back to the same well - I think there was one season that had Homer and Marge on the verge of divorce for more than half the episodes. Why not a Bumblebee Man or Sea Captain centric episode?

BTW I notice that from season 8 on there is a change in the general storylines. Typically the seasons up to that had an A story and a B story, sometimes a C.  Doing that was brilliance, because when the A story fell flat the B story was often good enough to salvage the episode. But in season 8, they started having episodes like "The Homer They Fall" where it was all A story and very little B story. When an episode is good, that doesn't matter, but when it isn't, there isn't anything to mitigate the stinker. Also, there became a trend to have more celebrities to show up as themselves whether it was interesting or funny or not.

Anyway, I'm sure the series will continue from now until the time at which the show becomes unprofitable.

Oh - I just thought of the fact that South Park managed a truly quick turnaround time that allowed them to make fun of trends AS THEY WERE HAPPENING, making the Simpsons seem dated when they referenced things that had happened a year before. Interesting note from the wiki on "I Am Furious (Yellow)"

The episode has been used as an indicator to the growth of internet companies. In his article "Best Indicator Ever: The Simpsons Foreclosure", Jonathan Hoenig of wrote that the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Loan_Again,_Naturally" title="No Loan Again, Naturally">No Loan Again, Naturally", an episode in which the Simpsons are foreclosed from their house, could have indicated that "the worst of the housing crisis" at the time the article was written, was over. Hoenig based this theory on the fact that shortly after "I Am Furious (Yellow)", which satirizes the dot-com bubble, aired, the dotcom stocks "began a massive rebound from bear-market lows."[23]

Aye. Back in the mists of time we had Danny DeVito and Rodney Dangerfield playing characters, the first episode I really noticed celebrity name-dropping was season 10's "When you Dish Upon a Star", which was wholly centred around Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. And, as I recall, given that I've not seen it in years, a few crappy comedy skits leading in to a pretty stinky "A-plot" only episode.

Anyway, I'm sure the series will continue from now until the time at which the show becomes unprofitable.
Incidentally, how do you feel about Futurama? Like I said in my previous post, I thought TOS ended perfectly. "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" was epic, and ended the series with Fry and Leela's romance resolved. For an example of doing it wrong, see: Frasier. One of the main jokes in it was the unresolved sexual tension between Daphne and Niles. One of the reasons to tune in and watch it was too see what crazy misunderstandings there would be this week. Then, the writers made them hook up, and Frasier continued after that.I guess I'm trying to say I'd prefer artistic integrity over profits for the networks. Leads to better, more interesting viewing./And maybe just restating the idea behind jumping the shark.

Granted, Rodney Dangerfield was playing a very Rodney Dangerfieldesque character. James Woods I thought was funny for being himself because of the reason he was there. But back in the day, you'd voice a Simpsons character like they way Dustin Hoffman or Michael Jackson did, and it was glorious.

I thought Futurama ended perfectly. I didn't want to see it end, but that episode was GREAT, and one of my top ten endings to any series. I was glad to have more Futurama, but somehow it isn't the same. I'm torn at the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AexzqFLquG8 use of time travel to have Fry mature and love Leela, but that damn movie wrecks the Seymour episode.

Jurassic Bark?

One of Futurama:TOS's finest moments, along with the likes of "The Luck of the Fryrish", for making you feel things for animated characters.

There's some quality writing behind those. And I guess that's why I shun modern Simpsons. I've not seen an episode of the Simpsons for more than a decade that has made me feel anything.

Futurama had some great episodes, JB being one of the most heart-rending things I've ever seen. Also, when Leela met her parents was astounding (I'm adopted). Oh, and for the record, the American Dad episode where the butterfly dies at the end? FOCK YOU SETH MCFARLAND. It was a goofy show and then you get all "Werner Herzog" at the end? I can't tell if that was as good as post-whatever cartoony shiat can get, or if it was brilliant, but it hurt. AND EVEN WORSE! Then you allowed your younger sister to put out "Haley Sings". That should be buried next to the Atari E.T. games. You've gone too far.

DO IT FOR HER

The Simpsons once had great emotional eps. Then Futurama turned it up to eleven. Between the Trilogy of Tears: Luck of the Fryrish, Leela's Homeworld, and Jurassic Bark, I don't think there is anybody that wouldn't find an episode to break them down, depending on their life experiences.

Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't wanna know. It's a market we can do without.

That's why I like to dub three episodes the Trilogy of Tears: Luck of the Fryrish, Leela's Homeworld, and Jurassic Bark, as the 3 episodes that collectively should bring most people to tears. I'm sure that seeing the ending with Baby Love Child Playing was emotional for you. For an only child like myself, I didn't get torn up by Luck of the Fryrish, but I can see where it would be emotional for anyone that ever competed with a sibling and hated them. Jurassic Bark will break any pet owner.

"Time Keeps on Slippin'" is also a perfect example of Futurama's blending of silly sci-fi tropes with top-notch humour and intelligent plots. And shows Fry, despite his obvious flaws, to be a good man.

KiwDaWabbit: Impasse: Tumunga: did I just get tricked into looking at an unfunny, sponsored link? I feel violated.

You'll get over it.
