What a tragedy. It's leaking wind into the environment at an alarming rate. The landscape will be contaminated with wind for thousands of years.

cgraves67: We have these things all over the place here in the Flyover States(TM). I've always been a little concerned about what would happen if a tornado (also not uncommon here) were to get ahold of a few of those things and start throwing blades as big as a semi-truck around like a giant ninja.

You've never seen a giant ninja. NO ONE HAS.

I heard they put windmills rated at 50 Marys per hour in locations that were known to have upwards of two hundred Marys per hour cried on a regular basis.

Obviously this means green energy is a failure and global warming is a hoax.

You're not sufficiently outraged. This means that wind power is doomed and we should build more coal plants because nothing ever goes wrong with coal plants.

"All of you "fark physicists" and greenies, I don't get. Look. turbines are bad. Transferring wind energy into power is bad. At some point, the loss of wind energy is going to slow down the planet, and then you and your "climate change" is just going to be a walk in the park. So I'd suggeste you blokes read up on the conservation of energy before you get all high and mighty about "clean" wind energy if you are going to destroy the world."

I had someone actually give me this argument a while back when I told him I fix wind turbines for a living, except he was dead serious about it. I about died laughing at the guy. I think my favorite was how wind turbines are a conspiracy to blow the earth out of its orbit though.

I actually make my money in the non-wind part of the business, but I think the funniest thing I've seen in my entire career was a job posting for a person to be in charge of installing the support structure for a turbine. The position title: "ERECTION SUPERVISOR".

And lo, HR had a very busy day giving out dirty looks.

Good thing is, only need 400 or so gigantic 400 foot tall wind turbines on the hillsides of Vermont to produce the same amount of power as a 1 nuclear reactor. Wind has a higher carbon footprint, is not always online, but thank goodness we don't have that super dangerous nuclear waste.

Dumbass libs, always good for a laugh.

My 2 year old wooden fence blew down last night in those winds too.

Clearly fences are a waste of time and will never catch on.

Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or forty hulking giants? I intend to do battle with them and slay them.

Obviously the concept of NIMBY is well-understood, though the more-relevant MTBF might be a good thing to introduce...

I guess planning for high winds in a place known for high winds is too much for these bozos.
