That could precipitate a lawsuit.

If it's biodegradable, it shouldn't be counted as litter.

2013-01-30 09:42:11 AM
I'm sure the lawyers are salinating over this one.

So all paper trash is fair game?

/Like the Britishism of calling a salt packet a sachet.

This is good news, for slugs.

As if eating at KFC wasn't punishment enough.

Honey, when the city salts the streets, they don't just toss bags of salt around.

Also, they don't use salt anymore.

You littered, you're a dumbass.

They hit her with a $75 fine for littering, then when she was at the court, they hit her with $330 fine under an EPA law.

/that sucks ass
//I know it is in England, but I don't know how to get their money symbol to type.

So the fine was 75 pounds, but she didn't pay and now she's biatching about the new improved 400 pound fine?

This chickie is sodium stupid.

More like they hit her with a $120 fine for littering, and when she refused to just pay the fine, someone realized in court that was technically a chemical, so they hit her up for about another $600 USD in revenge for not respecting their nanny state fine. They learned it from watching HOAs in the US.

Yeah, I'm curious to know what else there is to this story. Is the ticket-writer a prick? Do they not give people a chance to pick up their litter in England when something accidentally drops? Did she do something stupid like say, "Oh, come on, it's just a salt package, c'mon" when confronted about it?

Copy & paste it from the article.  Sounds silly, but it will work.  Easier than learning the code.

Dumbass. She wouldn't have gotten the fine if she tossed some over her shoulder.

2013-01-30 09:56:11 AM
While a woman was crossing asphalt
she dropped a small packet of salt.
She tried to use reasoning
but was arrested for seasoning
a crime almost as bad as assault.

MN8: She is a HOT litter bug at least.

And you just know she's freaky as she guilt eats her greasy fast food lunch in the parking lot. Licking the juices from her quivering fingers, she frantically shoveled her fried chicken into her mouth, telling herself tomorrow she would just eat a salad, and maybe tonight she'd go running. She furtively ate in that car park, feeling safe and secure in her daily ritual of dietary blasphemy, a brief moment of carbohydrate laden respite from the demands of the other skinny biatches in her office, each of them no doubt happily reassuring each other that that last bottle of sparkling water hit the spot so much they couldn't possibly eat another thing, and she braced herself to go back, to go back under their judging scrutiny, back into their disapproving stares, knowing she smelled like rebellion and salt. Salt that would so soon slip to the ground, and betray her.

FTA: Fine ... Laura Howells

So true, the media actually got something correct.

2013-01-30 10:00:30 AM
Britain...I should have guessed...and of course the government official immediately goes to the statistics card when pressed as to why the fine is so high.

Makes me want to trail to bunch of redcoats through the woods and pick off their officers one by one...if this were 1775 of course.

2013-01-30 10:01:33 AM
1) This is what you get when councils get to issue fines and keep the money
2) Was the parking lot even part of the council's "jurisdiction"? Looks like a privately owned space to me...
3) Wales is not in England (for the people that replied already in this thread).

2013-01-30 10:03:22 AM
Why is she eating at KFC when there are many fine British restaurants around?

There is no such thing as a fine too steep for littering, IMO. It's amazing how a little individual laziness and selfishness can turn a place to shiat in no time at all and spoil things for everyone.

The fast food barons have already figured out they save 15% by simply not putting any pepper in 15% of the black pepper packets.

I was wondering the same thing. There had to be some interaction between her and the ticket writer. How else would they know her name to issue the ticket.

I'd like every asshole who drops a cigarette butt on the ground to get the same fine. Every time they do it.

No, this is Fark where everyone in the article is stupid and we are armchair know-it-alls.

Never order the soup de jour. It never tastes the same.

I highly doubt littering is an absolute liability offence in Wales.

And every takeout container costs you $.05, not just plastic bags at the grocery store. For that matter, why not slap a $.05 charge on any "carrying convenience item" - paper bags, garbage bags, boxes - you know, to help cut down on the litter problem?

Why don't we make every minor infraction punishable by 39 lashes in the town square? That'll show the little SOBs...

// I am with you on smoking, though
// what I most object to is the way chickenshiat tickets like that, jaywalking, etc always seem to be handed out only when cops want to be supreme dickholes about some minor point

Fortunately for her, she wasn't in Singapore or her little ass would be on the line.
