(SanDiegoUnionTribune)   LaDainian Tomlinson gives an honest opinion of the San Diego Chargers. San Diego sportswriters predictably have a problem with this   (utsandiego.com) divider line 21

I didn't see any sportswriters quoted, and his criticism wasn't scathing at all.  But maybe I'm not in on the joke.

Terrible headline, bad article.  Nobody aside from the couple dozen Charger fans would be interested.

Those were pretty softball criticisms from LDT. i know how scathing comments like "I think Philip Rivers is elite, but needs to get back to basics. He needs McCoy's assistance to do that" and "Ryan Matthews could use some help so that he doesn't have to carry as much workload" could piss off a media group, but for some reason I couldn't find them in the article.

Maybe every Charger fan just knew deep in his/her heart, that LT was really saying, "Hey, you remember when Drew Brees took that team to the Super Bowl? Wow, that fan base had to have been excited, winning a Super Bowl! I wonder if his previous team regrets trading him off for a flavor-of-the-month draft pick! That's almost as bonheaded as when I got cut to be replaced by Mr. Glass! Seriously, what stupid piece of Schottenheimer looked at that awesome team and decided to Norv it up for years to follow?"

Great player for fantasy teams, but the biggest crybaby also

Are the sportswriters pissed because he beat them to an obvious analysis?

He's absolutely correct, and deserves an opinion before anyone else. Mathews + Tolbert = great running game. Mathews without Tolbert + I think it was Ronnie Brown or someone washed up = Pee Rivers throwing picks and no yards via ground game.

Well, THAT escalated... in no what whatsoever.

How is there any criticism beyond, "Dean Spanos let A.J. Smith keep his job entirely too long, which was sometime about 5 minutes before he fired Schottenheimer."

2013-01-30 11:29:10 AM
Everything he said was accurate.  He isn't the first person to say it either.

I follow quite a few San Diego sports writers on twitter, and I haven't heard one bad thing said about LT. All I've heard is that he has been honest in giving his opinion of the Chargers.

Uh, not sure where that headline came from, and can only presume a clumsy attempt to rile up Charger fans/haters.

/Still doesn't regret Schottenheimer getting fired.
//AJ should have stayed, Norv should have been gone 4 years ago.
///the Spanos brothers are the biggest obstacles standing between the team and success.

There's nothing wrong with the Chargers that a change in ownership and management wouldn't fix.

The Union Tribune has been taken over by ultra-conservative hacks, and in cutting back to bare bones, they apparently fired most of their decent writers, editors, etc.  Seriously.  Ever since they sold to Manchester, the UT has gone to shiat.

Ultra conservative pro illegal alien hacks?

I am one, and personally know of a dozen.  If that helps, I'm not in Southern California, either.

Norv needed to go, and AJ did as well.  Trading for "Mr. Glass" was a mistake, but an honest one at least.  Not keeping Wes Welker?  Idiocy.  Not drafting any offensive lineman to protect the trigger man in your offense?  Idiocy.  There are others, but it starts in the trenches, and ends at the QB when you put turnstiles as your offensive lineman.

/Bitter?  Only that they couldn't beat the farking JETS when they should have (Marlon, I'm looking at you!) and the Patriots.

Nothing like a catchy title to lure you in then disappoint as more words appear in the article.
