Yeah, crappy casserole for everyone! Constipation will do what Al-Quaeda couldn't.

Let's just get this out of the way...Chicago style pizza is good. NY style pizza is also good. It IS possible to like them both.

If they sent NY style pizzas, they would be indistinguishable from the box by the time they got to the troops anyway. Give me a crunchy crust (thick or thin topping style) any time over those limp, floppy excuses of pizza called "NY style".

i know there's this big rivalry and all, but new york makes a better pizza. chicago makes a better baked casserole with some tomatoes, cheese, and bread involved.

/ take that. i think they're both delicious, i just think it's wrong to call that chicagoan thing a pizza.
// but really, any one who likes pizza knows that it lives and dies on the bread. not the stuff. if the stuff is king, you might as well do the chicagoan thing and just pile on the stuff.

Chicago's butter crust is the best part.

/who puts casserole in a crust? It's clearly a pie

It's not pizza if you have to use a knife and fork to eat it.

New York > Chicago.

It's a loaf of bread with sauce and cheese.

New York pizza is the napkin you wiped your face with while eating Chicago-style.

NY style isn't pizza either really. But here in America we call them both pizza and they're both delicious so who gives a shiat? Other than people overly uptight about their food.

I'll be sure to let people know if I really do get a pizza and how it tastes. Hopefully they didn't bake it before they sent it...

Chicago here.

Hate the pizza.

Gimme East Coast pizza any day of the week.

Hey, I'm from St. Louis. Our pizza with cracker-like crust with provelone cheese makes Chicagoans positively batshiat insane. I've seen guys in Cubs jerseys flipping tables and chairs when served an Imos Pizza.

Goddamn it people, buy some dough (or make your own) roll it out, and put it on the grill. It's better than either NY or that horrible, horrible this-is-why-you're-fat Chicago crap.

If you're a REAL purist then New York pizza is just a cracker with tomato sauce on it, and any toppings other than Margherita are johnny come lately crap. Only Naples has pizza. But no, you're just an asshole trying to legitimize a form of pizza you don't like

U.S. servicemen and women? Would that include Peace Corps volunteers? Sigh. No. Let's honor only those people who fight for our country, which is actually only 20% of the armed services. Why the f*ck would we want to honor those people who get paid a living allowance (stipend) for helping their country's foreign policy and image?

//plus, it's actually A LOT easier to get pizza to the armed service members than most Peace Corps volunteers out in the boonies

I grew up going to Pepe's on Wooster Street in New Haven. All other pizzas are #2 or lower.

I'll need a taste test to see which I like better. Send some this way.

I like really good chewy, wood-fired, brick oven baked crust with simple toppings though, so I think that NY would win.

Crust is just a handle to deliver thin crust pizza to my stomach. It serves no other purpose.

They have to send Chicago style because its heavier than cement and will better survive the shipping process.

Why does Chicago have to go over the top with everything?

Simple sauce and cheese isn't enough, lets quadruple the ingredients!

A hot dog where you can taste the hot dog? Nonsense! Put eight pounds of toppings on there!

/leave it to a city with obesity problems to take portable foods and make them into boat anchors

Until I left New York I never thought I was a pizza snob. Probably I wasn't. Years of living in Chicago and now Vancouver (even worse for pizza) make me long for New York pizza. Not even special NY pizza. Just thinking of Sbarros in JFK, or slices from one of the pizzerias in the LIRR terminal of Penn Station makes me drool. It's sad.

/I acknowledge that Chicago style pizza is not a bad thing, but it's not my kind of thing.
//Not NY style, but HomeMade Pizza Company was awesome. I've never found Jalapeno pizza as good as they made. IT was easily the best thing pizza I found in Chicago.

2013-01-29 11:00:47 AM
Maybe they should just catch a ride home from DHL. Why are we still there?

There isn't enough common sense or logic around here to smoother the flames of a Fark pizza war.

I embrace pizzas of many faiths and regions. I have love for many varieties of the sainted pie.

Or course, I thank God every day that everyone knows that Skyline chili on spaghetti is the best chili, bar none.
