Sure, they're lame by themselves.

But put a bunch of them together and they transform into... a building!

... and all the sauce runs out the sides making a farking mess.

If you are to stupid to get the food out of the box without looking like that tool in his fail attempts you deserve to go hungry. You're probably fat anyway

An hour later you're horny again.

Would be kinda neat, but I imagine your lo mein would be spilling all over the table as you tried to eat it, which makes it pretty inconvenient.

2013-01-29 09:34:42 AM
Why are you all so uppity this morning??

Like you never hit yourself in the face with your moist lo-mein trying to take a bite... right, this is the internet after all.

I'm glad I clicked on the link.

This was my first Foodbeast click, now I know I never need to click on one of their links again.

Oh, and

miss diminutive: Well, that was stupid.

Counterpoint: I didn't realize this. It's a handy thing to know. Thanks for the link.

There's a whole lot of "How dare a site composed of links link to other sites!" in here.

(That said, yep, the guy in the video does look way too smug for his own good.)

2013-01-29 09:36:26 AM
Fark you, subby. I was expecting to see the box jump off the plate, transform into a Decepticon, and blast puny humans with it's Gan Guo contents.

coinspinner: Can we just ban all BuzzFeed and Foodbeast links, please?

Seconded.

What kind of saucery is this?

Wait...there were people who didn't know this?

And to all those people, the secret is to bang the rocks together, guys.

So, do these yahoos get paid to present this? If so, where can I apply? I'd like to film the obvious for money.

Maybe it's time to consider turning this back red.

So does that mean flipping the box over in a regular bowl or plate goes against nature or some sort of rules?

Meh, we don't get those boxes here, we get the old school round cardboard containers that have designs all over them or the plain Styrofoam or plastic bowls.

Oddly enough, I can't find an image of these containers (the ones with designs)... guess it's a Canadian thing.

Personally I love them... they're very nostalgic for me.... they've been around since I've been a kid, last century ago.

What, are paper plates so hard to use these days?
Or, conversely, just eat out of the damn box and put any leftovers back in the fridge using the same container.
^Applies to family and close friends only. College room mates do not count as either.

That's supposed to be news? I figured that one out all by myself.

But if you are dumping the takeout onto several plates, it makes more sense to leave the box intact. You don't have to make a mess of the transfer like they do in the video.

Anyone that can't manage to eat food out of a takeout box is an idiot. Seriously, chopsticks are the perfect tool for this.

MythDragon: That said, I have to do a partial deconstruction by removing the wire handle everytime I nuke my leftovers so I don't get Chinese New Year in my microwave.

I haven't seen a wire handle on those boxes since the 70s or early 80s. Where do you get those?

From the gas station/chinese food store.
It's like getting Valero pizza, but chinese food.

See, I thought that too, but I used to live out in the boonies, there was an unusually good chinese place. this girl I worked with had just moved back from Seattle and confirmed that it was better than any (American) Chinese food shed ever had on the west coast.

China House in Whitewater WI.

Same here. Rural boonies, but the Chinese owned and run restaurant nearby still uses the wire-handled takeout boxes.

White people problems.

As someone who mostly eats Indian and Thai curries, this would basically result in spilling curry all over the table. I think I'll stick to using ceramic plates & bowls.

Seattle. Even the mom and pops use the microwave-safe version of that box without the handle. I've never had takeout from the International District though (there's usually nothing left to take when we go there). Maybe they use them there.

I like the white, plastic contaners with the clear lids, they're using now. They're microwavable, and reusable.

fark you subby.... waste of my time. it's how the boxes are manufactured, not because they were designed to "transform" into a farking plate... and even if they were, what is the problem with transferring said food TO a plate?
