Not the same. Too salty not enough onion flavor.

Before you think that my favorite snack was the onion on my belt, aren't most of these drinks? Is that what passed for snacks in the 90's?

Now this stuff:

It'll burn the lining of your mouth right off.

My favorite candy in the world. And yes, they have a similar effect on the inside of your mouth as turpentine has on paint after half a bag. God I want one now. I haven't come across any sour candy that comes close. If you are in to sour candies one of the tastiest things I've come across is blueberry balsamic vinegar. Just a little drop on your finger and, wow. Can sit and suck the sweetly sour flavor off your tongue for a good 10 minutes.

In Puerto Rico, they put those on burritos. Along with ketchup and mayo. And believe it or not, it actually works.

The111: In Puerto Rico, they put those on burritos. Along with ketchup and mayo. And believe it or not, it actually works.

News flash: people who have become addicted to consuming large quantities of fat and salt develop an indifference to the exact vehicle for that fat and salt. an oreo, for example, is a fat delivery vehicle much more than it is a sugar delivery vehicle. it's why fat people eat whole packs of oreos/tubs of ice cream but not necessarily pack after pack of smarties/nerds.

also: if it were a state, puerto rico would be counted by far as the most obese state in the country. and in the usa, to say "by far" for such a statistic is truly damning.

I remember when Space Food Sticks came out--yuck. Give me a Tootsie Roll anytime and suck on it 'till it looks like a turd and gross out the little sister.
I liked Big Daddy bubble gum, the green apple kind. Pixie Stix, Sweet Tarts.
Pillsbury's sweet drink mixes, Goofy Grape, Injun Orange, Chinese Cherry (we didn't know nuffin about politically correct in them days).
Candy necklaces, Caravelle bars. Shasta pop.
good times

Ouh... vienna sausage. Like a hot dog in a can. I love that shiat.

And the green apple bubble gum that started green and turned blue after chewing it for a while

I'm suddenly reminded of a horrible incident when I chewed an entire roll of bubble tape until it... liquified in my mouth. It was in the middle of geometry class, and I had no choice but to swallow the mess.

that there is some old school love i can get behind. that was back in the days when there was also a instant brakfast bar in a foil wrapper that was pretty much a concentrated brownie OMG. there was also a sealed round mini pizza that you'd heat in the toaster that would come out lava hot. delicious and fun.

No one mentioned Warheads? My mom used to buy these for me in bulk while I was in middle school. I'd sell them for 25 cents per piece (because other kids parents wouldn't buy them?). I'd then use my profits to buy more expensive snacks (cheese-filled breadsticks anyone?) I ate like a king.

I also like to think I contributed to some hardcore mouth/tongue/tooth damage.

Fizzies. The Alka Setzer like tablets that turned in to soda. Cola, Root Beer, Lemon Lime and others. Usually, you used warm water so you wound up with a warm decently flavored soda. Or, you could pop one in your mouth and stand at a water fountain taking slurps of water which turned in to soda in your mouth. The trick was to hold on to the tablet until it was completely dissolved.

I think they had phosphates which were banned in the late 60's.

And while we discuss food that goes off in your mouth, Zotzs. Zotz candy. Used to buy them buy the foot.
Wow. Fizzies aren't extinct. Wonder whatelse my parents lied to me about.

Yes, they are. The abomination bearing their name bears no resemblance whatsoever to the original other than its shape and its ostensible purpose.

handisnaks are much too far down the list, that was the highlight of my lunch for most of grade school. my mother never learned how to have a sandwich be not soggy by lunchtime. she made a sandwich once that wasn't soggy. once.

The local elementary school around here banned Hot Cheeetos and Takis, specifically.

They were causing a disturbance.

I demand a congressional hearing in to what the hell happened to cheese balls.

For damn near 20 years now I've been wondering where they went. And does anyone know if the generics are any good? I've never had.

You can usually grab a barrel of this stuff at Wal-Mart for about $5. You need to let them age a few days after opening but they're still nowhere near as good as the original cheese balls. Nothing is.
