With Ecto Cooler mentioned, let's take a look at this claim:

23. Black Pepper Jack Doritos:

AKA the only Dorito that actually matters. RIP.

I was a Cool Ranch Doritos kinda guy, so I'd have to disagree vehemently.

Also, HELL YEAH, DUNKAROOS

YES.

It's a jingle that, once it enters your mind, does not leave easily.

So it was with Mondo, too.

"IT'S! YOUR! WORLD! Mondo, Mondo! Mondo, Mondooooooo..."

I really have no idea what you people are going on about here. I never ever saw any of these things in my school lunches. All of them must have been elsewhere while I was still eating the school lunches for low income students or where brought into the system after I had left.

Only the finest bug juice was made with Ecto-Cooler. A pint of grain to three cans (four if you were a pussy) of Ecto-Cooler, with a few orange slices tossed in to prevent scurvy?

Perfection, especially served in a trash can down by the river on a day hot enough to make the girls say "I forgot my bathing suit, but fark it"

Now there's no Ecto-Cooler, no grain sold legally in PA and the only strange drunk women who'll take their tops off around me say I'm the only cool guy to stop in tonight and if we go back into the Champagne Room she can REALLY have some fun with me, but first I have to give Rocco and Vinny "The Neck" my AMEX card.

Well, that was one of the shiattier "I grew up in the 90s" lists BuzzFeed has published. Most of that stuff sucked, especially 3d doritos, and the writer's lack of creativity in taglines (AKA the part that follows the picture) was frustrating.

That said, dunkaroos were delicious. I would still eat them now if my local stores sold them.

Man, I hated Capri Sun pouches. Either the straw couldn't poke a hole thru the pouch or it did and some of the juice would squirt out. That's assuming the straw didn't get lost before lunch. We'd usually poke a starter hole with a pocket knife but having such a tool is grounds for immediate expulsion these days. Boxes were far more practical. No mess and, even if you lost the straw, you could still poke it with a stick and get the juice out.

My favorite candy in the world. And yes, they have a similar effect on the inside of your mouth as turpentine has on paint after half a bag. God I want one now. I haven't come across any sour candy that comes close. If you are in to sour candies one of the tastiest things I've come across is blueberry balsamic vinegar. Just a little drop on your finger and, wow. Can sit and suck the sweetly sour flavor off your tongue for a good 10 minutes.

The111: In Puerto Rico, they put those on burritos. Along with ketchup and mayo. And believe it or not, it actually works.

News flash: people who have become addicted to consuming large quantities of fat and salt develop an indifference to the exact vehicle for that fat and salt. an oreo, for example, is a fat delivery vehicle much more than it is a sugar delivery vehicle. it's why fat people eat whole packs of oreos/tubs of ice cream but not necessarily pack after pack of smarties/nerds.

also: if it were a state, puerto rico would be counted by far as the most obese state in the country. and in the usa, to say "by far" for such a statistic is truly damning.

No one mentioned Warheads? My mom used to buy these for me in bulk while I was in middle school. I'd sell them for 25 cents per piece (because other kids parents wouldn't buy them?). I'd then use my profits to buy more expensive snacks (cheese-filled breadsticks anyone?) I ate like a king.

Fizzies. The Alka Setzer like tablets that turned in to soda. Cola, Root Beer, Lemon Lime and others. Usually, you used warm water so you wound up with a warm decently flavored soda. Or, you could pop one in your mouth and stand at a water fountain taking slurps of water which turned in to soda in your mouth. The trick was to hold on to the tablet until it was completely dissolved.

I think they had phosphates which were banned in the late 60's.

And while we discuss food that goes off in your mouth, Zotzs. Zotz candy. Used to buy them buy the foot.
Wow. Fizzies aren't extinct. Wonder whatelse my parents lied to me about.

You can usually grab a barrel of this stuff at Wal-Mart for about $5. You need to let them age a few days after opening but they're still nowhere near as good as the original cheese balls. Nothing is.

Yep, but you live in a place where you can get beef on weck, so why would you want crappy frozen Philly steak slices?

Not a big weck guy and Steakums are fantastic. I used to cook them on the foreman grill, afterwards the grease tray looked like an italian washed their hair in it.

I can't believe Cosmic Brownies won out over Surge, although I guess Surge isn't even technically a lunch snack.

That square pizza was vile, looking back, but as a kid I went nuts for it. Fruit by the Foot didn't age well either, but those caramel apple pops are bomb and I don't care how many fillings I have to get replaced.

If I had kids in 2006, lotsa cash and were sending them to school, they'd be going with what dad drinks.

Isn't this the high school crap pizza?

More than likely it was "Tony's Commodity".

We used to take Ecto Cooler and mix vodka with it..we called them "Proton Packs."

We were not very original. But it was some smooth drinkin!

Recipe for Ecto Cooler

1 gallon container

1/4 cup premium orange juice (no pulp).

1/4 cup tangerine juice.

1 packet each of Flavor-Aid (Or Kool-Aid) orange juice and tangerine.

A little more than a teaspoon of lemonade mix for tartness.

(what I'm guessing is) 1/2 cup sugar. Or just add sugar or whatever sweetner you wish to suit your personal taste.

While stirring to dissolve the sugar, add enough water to bring the level to the top of the container.

8-10 drops of green food coloring, 4-5 drops of blue.

Chill in fridge for one hour.

Epileptic Llama: I also like to think I contributed to some hardcore mouth/tongue/tooth damage.

My Econ class taught me that I could buy caramello bars (and other candy bars) for 3 for $1 at the supermarket, and smuggle them into school where I could sell them for 50 cents (15 cents cheaper than what they were sold for in the vending machines.

I was also able to smuggle in bars that the vending machines didn't carry (caramello). I used a freezer pack in my backpack to keep the bars from melting in the summer.

How are most of these "lunch snacks"? One of them is a popsicle, another is basically a Slushy. I couldn't buy that shiat at school and my mom certainly didn't make them available for lunch.

I expected a list with cheese and peanut butter crackers and pudding snacks and mostly what we have is a list of candy and flavored sugar water.

No wonder America is so farking fat, if this is what you all were eating for lunch every day.

And they are so much better than Slurpees. It's the little ice balls. Reminds me of the difference between a nice, long grain rice where each grain is a separate entity and the mash of sticky, white rice that comes out of my pot all stuck together. I haven't even seen a Slush Puppy machine in years.

The best part about Go-Gurt is when a table full of kindergartners got ahold of them and tried to open them. It was like the end of a porno movie.

jtown: Man, I hated Capri Sun pouches.

See, that's how you fail at childhood.

/It was an art form, man. An art form.

I also like to think I contributed to some hardcore mouth/tongue/tooth damage.

I still buy these. I end up eating 20 ore more and my mouth has no sense of hot or cold, sharp or soft.

Personally, an ice-cold V8 was awesome with my lunch. Not that it made up for my lunch being unhealthy crap.
