With Ecto Cooler mentioned, let's take a look at this claim:

23. Black Pepper Jack Doritos:

AKA the only Dorito that actually matters. RIP.

I was a Cool Ranch Doritos kinda guy, so I'd have to disagree vehemently.

Also, HELL YEAH, DUNKAROOS

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: Also, HELL YEAH, DUNKAROOS

"Dunkaroos, Dunkaroos, you just don't eat, you Dunkaroo."

After all these years, that jingle still gets stuck in my head from time to time.

YES.

It's a jingle that, once it enters your mind, does not leave easily.

So it was with Mondo, too.

"IT'S! YOUR! WORLD! Mondo, Mondo! Mondo, Mondooooooo..."

Here is the best snack in the history of EVER!

How the heck could they stop making these when Combos are still out on the market? Seriously, Combos suck the crap out of a dead pig's butt, compared to those.

I really have no idea what you people are going on about here. I never ever saw any of these things in my school lunches. All of them must have been elsewhere while I was still eating the school lunches for low income students or where brought into the system after I had left.

I'm all for de-slidification, but that wasn't a slideshow. Your de-slided link looks fundamentally the same as TFA.

Only the finest bug juice was made with Ecto-Cooler. A pint of grain to three cans (four if you were a pussy) of Ecto-Cooler, with a few orange slices tossed in to prevent scurvy?

Perfection, especially served in a trash can down by the river on a day hot enough to make the girls say "I forgot my bathing suit, but fark it"

Now there's no Ecto-Cooler, no grain sold legally in PA and the only strange drunk women who'll take their tops off around me say I'm the only cool guy to stop in tonight and if we go back into the Champagne Room she can REALLY have some fun with me, but first I have to give Rocco and Vinny "The Neck" my AMEX card.

my mom worked for a middle school here in town. she would call me whenever they had the square pizza. i don't know if it was nostalgia or what but i loved that shiat. she retired like 6 years ago.

I lived for that damn square piece of greasy pizza on Fridays.

The best school lunch ever, hands down: Taco salad. Edible bowl filled with taco? FARK. YES.

And no, those pretzel abominations are NOT the same thing!

Meh. Remember the peanut butter bars from the '70s which tasted somewhere between PB and asbestos?

For some reason I was addicted to dipping that rectangular pizza in the barely-French dressing they had in the cafeteria. No, I've never had any other pizza or dressing that tasted good together.

Choco Tacos are the only thing on that list I'd still eat... damned chocotacos.

2013-01-29 02:32:39 AM
Well, that was one of the shiattier "I grew up in the 90s" lists BuzzFeed has published. Most of that stuff sucked, especially 3d doritos, and the writer's lack of creativity in taglines (AKA the part that follows the picture) was frustrating.

That said, dunkaroos were delicious. I would still eat them now if my local stores sold them.

Man, I hated Capri Sun pouches. Either the straw couldn't poke a hole thru the pouch or it did and some of the juice would squirt out. That's assuming the straw didn't get lost before lunch. We'd usually poke a starter hole with a pocket knife but having such a tool is grounds for immediate expulsion these days. Boxes were far more practical. No mess and, even if you lost the straw, you could still poke it with a stick and get the juice out.

Our tuckshop had hotdogs that used crumbed franks. They looked hell odd, but tasted great. Got no idea where the tuckshop lady got 'em from. Can't say I've ever seen them since.

We also had custrad tarts. Yes baby, yes!

I had to scroll nearly all the way to the bottom of the page, but I'm leaving satisfied that Handi-Snacks were on the list. That "cheese" on the plastic stick was a match made in kid heaven.

That was cheese? I always thought it was a slightly weaker form of that flavored wax from the wax cola bottles.

I like my nostalgia to have some purpose beyond, "Hey, here's some stuff! You remember Lunchables, right??" and then we can all be, "Dude, I do remember Lunchables!"

The worst part about that is you can still buy lunchables. They're even in convenience stores now. How do you get nostalgic for something that's still around? Makes no sense to me.
