Yes, I'm no expert but it looked like he bailed very early. Watch Riding Giants if you really want to be impressed.

Except it's scientifically impossible to paddle in to a wave that big. In "Riding Giants" they talk about the "big wave" surfers trying for 70 footers back in the day. These guys are riding 100+ ft waves. Riding Giants even features Laird Hamilton and what hes done with tow in surfing, hes Garret Mcnamaras buddy and probably the guy who towed him in. Link

I knew I had seen someone say exactly that. I forgot about seeing that in the theater. I can't believe that was nine years ago. Wow.

Hey, subby, according to the perfect storm book, wind driven waves can theoretically reach heights of 180 feet.

Wow.

I've seen Riding Giants and others and footage from Jaws on Maui.

I cannot even conceive of tackling such huge waves. It's just amazing to me.

The diff between snow and surf is that is that the mountain, trees etc do not move. Ocean does.

Wait, I don't remember how this one ends. Did they save the local youth center from being bulldozed into a strip mall or was this when they made the money to save the favorite uncle'a fishing boat?

/Either way he better have gotten the girl or I am NOT watching again

Depends is this an 70's, an 80's, a 90's, a 00's or a 10's movie?

In the 70's the hero would have banged the girl, the girl's best friend, the maid, and maybe her mom, but would have gotten back into the girls good graces with some hijinks. In the 80's he would have just banged the girl and gotten with her. In the 90's he would have made out, but not had sex with the girl and they would still be together. In the 00's you would get some pics of the girl in a bikini and they would be talking about marriage. In the 10's well there is no girl, but his best friend might also be his partner, in more ways then one.

AverageAmericanGuy: Eh. He's no Laird Hamilton.

He's one of Laird Hamiltons best friends. They do exactly the same thing, only this guy has the records. I guess Laird is a model, so maybe he's not as handsome, but surfing? Probably the better tow surfer. The dude rode the waves from glaciers breaking off in the water in Alaska. He's nuts.
