ZMugg: Will they rent a cottage while they are there? If it's not too dear.they shall scrimp and saveVera, Chuck and Dave are on their own
Deadwing: I hear they're playing a jazz/rock festival on the Isle of Lucy.Or is it a rock/jazz festival?
willfullyobscure: Geldof sucks and is a weaselly little ass potato that needs to shuffle off out of public view. There's nothing he's done worth reprising
Ed Grubermann: ZMugg: Will they rent a cottage while they are there? If it's not too dear.they shall scrimp and saveVera, Chuck and Dave are on their ownWrong band.
New Age Redneck: ...if I was a Boomtown Rat I'd be staying up all night...../is this obscure here?
MaudlinMutantMollusk: Well, that shot my whole day down
zappaisfrank: The Boomtown Rats were a one-minor-hit wonder in the US and Geldof is known as that "Feed The World" guy here.
italie: I'd rather just re watch The Who's Isle of Wight performance and call it a day.//Mooooooooon
The One True TheDavid: Will it be the REAL Boomtown Rats or a tribute band like Guns N' Roses or Lynrd Skynrd? As far as I'm concerned The Who died with Keith Moon and the other three should have retired and stayed retired; now with Entwhistle dead it's not even a parody. And speaking of parody, the Rolling Stones should have retired after Tattoo You -- I was going to say Emotional Rescue but I like Waiting On A Friend. The same for any rockers that had their heyday between 1950 and 1990: you're senior citizens! Mobilitate your scooters to Tampa and drool!Generally speaking, any rock band in which more than one original member is 40 or older should switch to country or jazz if they must keep playing; at 50 or older rock musicians who just won't quit should be taken out and shot. Speaking of which, the sight of a septuagenarian head-bopping to "Satisfaction" or "My Generation" makes me foam at the mouth.Rock is not a genre for old people. I myself gave up on "staying current" after Kurt Cobain ventilated his skull; these days I prefer classical and jazz from before I was born because in them the composers are long dead and the musicians' ages don't matter."Caravan" and "The Ode To Joy" are timeless; "I Don't Like Mondays" is from when I was 16.
