Paul Giamatti is a *good* actor and could bring something to the franchise, subby, just like Alfred Molina did with Spider-Man 2.

Save that Fail tag for yourself.

This. I'll never turn my hose up at a respected actor wanting to take a stab at a Comic Book Movie.

Granted, more than a few of those may push your imagination's limits on "respectable actor", but I felt they were all pretty solid casting decisions with pretty solid actors portraying them. Your mileage may vary.

Lazakesau: Wayne 985: As I understand, Rhino in "Ultimate Spider-Man" is simply a nerdy guy in a robotic suit. I can see that interpretation being used for a film.

THIS!

Everyone needs to calm their tits.

Exactly. They'll use Ultimate Rhino, and he'll be a big Transformers style CGI.

I think the bigger issues is that Hollywood still hasn't farking learned anything: More villains don't make for better movies! I don't care who plays the Rhino or Electro. I'm wondering why they're in the same damn movie!

B.L.Z. Bub: Terrible example, IMO. I know I'm going against the grain of those who loved those movies, but for me the illusion was shattered every time the Hobbits and humans shared the frame. It always jumped right out at my eyes: THIS IS COMPUTER WIZARDRY YOU ARE WATCHING!

... You mean except for the part where it was a forced perspective camera trick, not computer wizardry? :P

Exactly that. More power to 'em.

thisiszombocom: he seems a bit more cerebral than i remember the rhino being. it is an odd choice, imho.

still, id watch it only for him.

I'd be willing to give it a shot, that's for damn sure.

CraicBaby: Agreed. Have people not seen Shoot 'Em Up?

I'm guessing that the answer to that may depress you.

Lackofname: I was hoping they were going to do Mysterio.

I know it's not the Raimiverse anymore, but Bruce Campbell HAS to play Mysterio.

ManateeGag: Blues_X: And the Hulk wasn't even played by a huge green guy!

THE NERVE!

The problem is, Hulk is a transformation from small guy to big buy.  Rhino is some big dude in a suit.  Paul Giamatti is 5'9" tall.  He could play a crime boss maybe, but not a hulking thug like Rhino.

Paul G. could play your left testicle and still do a better job than your current one.

You do know that Elijah Wood and the other LotR Hobbits aren't really three feet tall, right?

A Shambling Mound: Giamatti was one of the best things about Shoot 'Em Up. He was the almost the only good thing about Lady in the Water but in reality there is nothing good about that film, the simple fact that he even came close to making a Shyamalan movie watchable says a lot to me.

Just give him some scenery to eat and we're golden.

Yeah, I can't wait to see Giamatti play that same character he always does, except this time in a Rhino costume.
Damn, this franchise is gettin more boned than Star Trek, and that's sayin something....

They were outraged because a relatively unrespected actor was cast in a really cool role. This is the opposite of that.

My mind just boggled.

Gilligann: ManateeGag: Paul Giamatti is 5'9" tall

Yeah but wouldn't that make him taller than most actors in Hollywood?

They're all midgets. Fancy camera work makes them all look like giants.

Look at Tom Cruise. He's like 3' tall.

IMDb says Cruise is 5'7". But I know, everyone who's under 6' is a midget to you people.

I was a part of that group at the time, to be honest.

That's why I'm far more openminded towards the idea of Giamatti playing the villain here.
