Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: Paul Giamatti is a *good* actor and could bring something to the franchise, subby, just like Alfred Molina did with Spider-Man 2.

Save that Fail tag for yourself.

This. I'll never turn my hose up at a respected actor wanting to take a stab at a Comic Book Movie.

Granted, more than a few of those may push your imagination's limits on "respectable actor", but I felt they were all pretty solid casting decisions with pretty solid actors portraying them. Your mileage may vary.

Yeah, Hulk Hogan? LOL! Why would we want some idiot who's only ever fought against Colonel Klink?

Gilligann: ManateeGag: Paul Giamatti is 5'9" tall

Yeah but wouldn't that make him taller than most actors in Hollywood?

They're all midgets. Fancy camera work makes them all look like giants.

Naw, that was only to save on film stock costs. Now that movies are all digital, they're using low-resolution actors and making them sharper in the editing room.

I still remember the outrage when they announced that Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker.

They were outraged because a relatively unrespected actor was cast in a really cool role. This is the opposite of that.

My mind just boggled.

Regardless of who plays Rhino I would be absolutely shocked if they went with the "guy in a suit" angle. CGI is relatively cheap and complicated forced-perspective sets don't lend themselves to action sequences very well.

Giamatti was one of the best things about Shoot 'Em Up. He was the almost the only good thing about Lady in the Water but in reality there is nothing good about that film, the simple fact that he even came close to making a Shyamalan movie watchable says a lot to me.

Just give him some scenery to eat and we're golden.

The Samuel L one makes a lot of sense when you consider that the artists for The Ultimates series used him as a model for their version of Fury, which he agreed to on condition he get first crack at playing Fury in the movies.

Yeah, it looks like they're making a run at a modified "Totem" storyline with some other Ultimate Spiderman and Amazing Spiderman threads mixed in. They're going to focus on the genetic modification angle that created The Lizard and Mobius and apply it to other animal-themed Spider-baddies. I suspect after the Rhino we'll see Scorpion, Vulture, Black Cat, and/or Kraven the Hunter.

They can use camera trickery to make him look larger. However, I had the mental image of his face looking like Patrick Warburton as the live action Tick when in the Rhino costume. Still, it could work.

ManateeGag: Blues_X: And the Hulk wasn't even played by a huge green guy!

THE NERVE!

The problem is, Hulk is a transformation from small guy to big buy.  Rhino is some big dude in a suit.  Paul Giamatti is 5'9" tall.  He could play a crime boss maybe, but not a hulking thug like Rhino.

I'm going to have to agree with this. Seriously, when I think the Rhino, I think some big dude. Not Hulk or Juggernaut big, but way bigger than Paul Diamatti.

Not a huge Harry potter fan either but I'm pretty sure Hagrid was played by a normal sized dude too. Yep Robbie Coltrane is only 6' 1" not nearly the giant the movies made him out to be.

Uh, Giamatti's specialty is dialogue, so that's gonna be a really... weird interpretation of rhino.

Not necessarily bad, of course, but I predict the five people that like the comics version of the villain are gonna hate this movie a lot.

Exactly. They'll use Ultimate Rhino, and he'll be a big Transformers style CGI.

I think the bigger issues is that Hollywood still hasn't farking learned anything: More villains don't make for better movies! I don't care who plays the Rhino or Electro. I'm wondering why they're in the same damn movie!

Hey, Subtard, in the comic book Rhino was a scrawny white guy to begin with. In some variations he's just in a rhino suit. It isn't far-fetched. It's good casting. Do some research next time.
