I did quite enjoy it. It was apparently similar to another game (that I have not played), but for me it was a refreshing change from "Kill brown people in the desert"

They patched it for Move, and I think that would be a bit fun to play.

Plus boobies that you can towel off.

Eh, I wouldn't have a problem with the game if 1) the story was actually comparable in quality to established television/cinema, 2) the game featured actual adventure game elements (and decent puzzles), and 3) wasn't held up as some paragon of "vidya gaem art" because of its subject material (rather than its quality).  Heavy Rain is not the first "interactive entertainment" game and it's hardly the worst.  That said, David Cage (and people with a similar vision) is a potential plague upon the industry waiting to happen.

I played the Move version, and hated what I played. It was a lot of watching, with various short bursts of "move the indicator in this direction when you see the symbol on the screen to make the story continue in exactly the way the creators intended it to" -- Bleh. I want CHOICES in a game, not some linear, mildly-interactive animated movie. Letting me wiggle the controller to make the predetermined action occur on cue is not "gameplay". It's the video game equivalent of "turning the page".

It was a pretty game... I'll give them that. But it was dull dull dull.

Whenever we have a heavy rainstorm my wife and I always get funny looks when we refer to it as chubby rain in front of the uninitiated.

I think the idea was to make a dragons lair type game that actually gave you more than one path to an ending.

EX, make a mistake in dragons lair and you died instantly in interesting ways.

Make a mistake in heavy rain, and the scene that follows will change, but you will have other options.

// So part of the replaybility lies in going through a second time and intentionally farking things up, but not badly enough to result in early character death.

// In my playthrough, the FBI agent died and the killer escapes but the boy is rescued.

Normand Corbeil was the Origami Killer.

the only thing that disappointed me with Heavy Rain was that the killer never changes.

Especially since there are several red-herring happenings that there was no way could have happened unless the killer was someone different at certain points in the game.

Don't lie to me to make your twist or it isn't a twist, it is just a lie.

/loved heavy rain - on the first play thru.

frepnog: Don't lie to me to make your twist or it isn't a twist, it is just a lie.

Yeah, one of the paths I went on was leading me to believe that the dad had gone psycho and killed the kid, but couldn't remember it, so that he was the actual Origami killer.

things that were happening in the game led you to believe that because things that were happening in the game could have only happened the way they did if that was the case.

seriously. it isn't a twist if it is just lies to get me to believe something else. I loved the game but the twist was really kind of stupid. the entire game lied to you up to a point to lead you away from the true killer. it was fun but there really were quite a few things that happened that simply could not have happened if Ethan was was not the killer.

His family originally planned to press X, Up, Triangle and R2, followed by a clockwise motion on the L3 button in order to bury him, but decided to press Square, Right, Right, hold L1 and shake the controller up and down to have him cremated instead.
