Pleasantly surprised to not see the Capitals at #30. I figured that would be where they landed since they were the last team in the NHL to pick up a point in the standings.

Hawks look great.  All the stars are playing like stars.  We just have to keep avoiding the major injuries.  *knocks on wood*

Flames beat the Oilers. That's a good start.

We're definitely near the bottom, but below Florida? That just stings.

#29 is Calgary and they are "depressing." #30 is Columbus and they have "energy and purpose."

Just farking switch them and deal with the Canadian hate mail.

I heard that Johnny Toews is still suffering from concussion symptoms. He hasn't spoken or smiled in days, and has been communicating mostly with glassy, unblinking stares.

Maybe this will be the year the sharks win, they wont have time for their normal end of season collapse.

No, we can't overtake the 'Hawks, but they're the only team that's beaten us thus far.

The Sharks have had enough golf practice that I think they'll make it past the first cut in whatever celebrity tournaments they'll be playing in.

Funny thing is, Chicago had no business winning their last 2 or 3 games. Give it another week for other teams to get healthy and fix their holes. Chicago will end the season barely over .500.

I'm holding out hope for the Sabres, but it looks like a year of one scoring line only and a bunch of shaky defensmen. Le sigh. At least I have the Bills.

I'm interested to see what Anton Khudobin does in net tonight. Bruins haven't been very good against the Hurricanes in recent years, I hope they figured out the match-up problems.

#5, starting off 3-0-1, points in every game so far...liking it.

I'm a huge Hawks fan, and I love that they've set a team record with a 6-0-0 start, but calling them a "record setting" team is too much for me. Do that when they reach 11-0-0.

/and Hawks, save some of the magic for the playoffs please

I'll give that the Jackets game was a coinflip either way. But CHI outplayed the Stars all game, and I'd wonder what game you were watching if you didn't think they deserved to beat DET.

BTW, I was at last night's game. Both goalies played their hearts out, but I definitely felt like the better team won. (Of course, I was pretty drunk... so who knows.)

That's BS.  I've watched (or been to) every game so far.  Yes, yesterday against Detroit they played a poor 2nd and 3rd period, but saying they shouldn't have won their last 2-3 games isn't accurate.

Dennis Wideman could be ok. You can see he's still adjusting to the Flames system, but he's been springing and attempting to spring forwards on breakaway passes.

Kind of risky, but our offense could do with some risk-taking.

Detroit went 0-6 (7?) on the PP. Mostly because they were trying to be too cute, not because the CHI PK was THAT good (except for the last one or two where they did a great job of swarming in the corner).

Coyotes should be dead last in those rankings. We are the definition of "utter shiat" right now.

They did not even drop the furthest amount of spots. Now that they are putting Neuvi in goal they should be fine.

So EA Sports has successfully made the officials in the video game as incompetent as the ones in real life. Interesting.

Carcillo is out a month with a lower body injury. I think that guy adds a spark to the team that a lot of people don't consider...aside from taking dumb penalties.

4 out of 5 SJ's wins are against teams in the bottom 8 of these power rankings (CGY, EDM, COL, PHX). They're playing incredibly well, I agree, but they've been playing absolutely terrible teams.
Chicago has 6 wins in 9 days, and they beat STL, LA, DET.

Yeah, and then he backed it up in the Nashville series by outplaying Rinne (which is no small feat as we all know).

So 13 teams moved 10 positions or more and 8 of those were moved by 15 positions or more?

Yeah, really gives you confidence that they have any clue what-so-farking-ever.

And yeah, it's Pierre LeBrun, so we already knew that. Not the most clueless idiot at ESPN, but that's still not saying terribly much.

So no point cheering or arguing about this list. Might as well just post the teams in random order and debate that.
