Take this report how you may.

I won't believe it until I see it on FOX News.

at which point, I'll quit believing it.

Could be that Iran is denying it. Or maybe none of it ever happened. Would be hard to keep a lid on something like that for long though.

My thinking falls along 2 lines. One, it was a massive clusterfark, and Iran is scrambling to figure out how to blame the Jews. Two, it was sabotage, and Iran is scrambling to appear able to handle the situation before admitting anything. Especially if admitting to the possibility of sabotage will result in a bunch of dead Iranian scientists and their extended families.

The problem with having a secret military base for developing nuclear weapons that your government has been denying the existence of for the last decade is that if there are any mishaps or other attacks, you really can't come out and say "Yeah, we've been blown up in this place that we said isn't doing anything."

Also, how crappy would it be to die trapped underground under a mountain? It would be like the death of Balin and his troupe in the mines of Moria.

LOL@ Weird Nut Daily. Someone there read an autobiography about William Randolph Hearst's instigating the Spanish-American War and thought "Hey. WE can try that too. We're a globally awesome media empire ourselves too after all."

Kahlili's schtick is to write sensational stories about Iran doing stuff that is pretty much impossible for it to actually be doing, and for WND to then throw it on the website and scream about glass parking lots and stuff. ConWebWatch tends to skewer him a lot - check the links from that example.

Basically: unless a second person in the world actually reports on it, it didn't happen and is just Mustache Joe Farah's wet dreams being put to paper by his pet pseudonymous writer.

That's some thinly sourced bullshiat right there. So a supposed retired CIA man in California has been getting top-secret intel leaks from his buddies in Iran, and that's the source of the "scoop." Right.

Here's an idea. The supposedly want nuke for civilian and feel good uses right? How about we spend less money fighting them, build them a thorium reactor, and see what they do. If they use it, all the fighting stops and they go on about life.

Call their bluff in front of the world then deal with it swiftly and without compromise.

At the very least we can get in some practice with the reactor and show the folks everywhere else it is a better technology that we should move toward anyway.

From the BBC story:

Israeli Civil Defence Minister Avi Dichter told Israel's Army Radio that he could not say anything about the reported blast "beyond what I heard in the media".

If the Israelis had not done anything at this site, wouldn't they say "We haven't done anything at this site"?

I would also wait for more credible sources before believing, but hearing about things like this before they are confirmed is something I like about Fark -- even if it turns out bostonguy was huffing.

If there had been an explosion, even a small one, in the processing area, it would be
like a dirty bomb. The Uranium and Plutonium would be aerosol and spread all over the place.
All of the acids used in separation and oils in the machines would be all over the place and infused
with particles of radioactive isotopes. They might as well seal it off because it's pretty well useless.
Any pools of water or acids/oils or spilled containers containing isotopes risk reaching criticality.
Cleaning up that mess would be a nightmare.

You submitted a week old story as a newsflash then come into the thread to announce who you're the submitter.

Well, as someone living in Tel Aviv who heard multiple explosions during the last round, news like this is unnerving...

My sister just moved to Tel Aviv last week. She says she feels pretty safe with "The Dome", but I'm still worried.

It's different for Jews Israelis. Every single word an Israeli says, or doesn't say, only confirms the absolute worst things anyone says about them.

/that's what happens when a culture makes "need to hear" more important that "want to hear"
//and is surrounded by cultures that can't even imagine the thought process behind doing anything you don't want to do, no matter how badly it needs to be done
