Local car repair shops estimates they can do thousands of dollars in damage.

I wonder who is feeding all those rabbits.

We have that same problem with rock chucks where I work in Idaho.

People will drive home after work and see a rock chuck crawl out from under their car. Then notice electrical problems.

I have heard this problem is caused by a switch to soy based plastics for insulating electrical wires in newer cars

How much wire does a rock chuck gnaw if a rock chuck gnaws soy wire?

I've long maintained that the rabbits are a plot by RTD and the cab companies to scare people into leaving their cars at home and taking a cab or bus to the airport instead...

LOL, good one,

Like the article said, between $500-$1000 depending on how long they had to eat. Since only company vehicles are here overnight, it hasn't cost the employees that much. Just an agree boss when they ate a company van

Pet rabbits are notorious for chewing wires. A friend of mine lost her pet when he chewed through a vacuum cleaner AC cord.

Yeah, they are.  And if you have a rabbit you should really learn how to bunny-proof.  That makes me sad.  My SO had to solder more than a few iPod cords that accidentally got left out, but my bunny never has access to anything plugged in the wall.  Period.  PITA sometimes?  Sure.  But far better the alternative (for the bunny *or* for us, cords attached to things are nice kept in one piece), and anyway it's routine for us now.
