LDM90: I am not amused. Know this, submitter of links: To fool the son of Odin is to court war. With my mighty hammer, I shall have my revenge!/I SAY THEE NAY
ng2810: I met one of the directors Joachim Rønning at a screening recently, and I commented that it was amazing that I never even heard about Thor Heyerdahl or what he did when I grew up in Polynesia.I felt the director was chastising me when he said "I'm pretty sure you SHOULD have known about him!" Since apparently he's a national hero in Norway and is "Bigger than Columbus". He also is apparently directly responsible for the spread of "Tiki Culture" and the preservation of Polynesian indigenous culture. My bullshiat meter was going off like crazy during the conversation, but maybe it has something to do with a handsome white male telling me that the reason why my cultural identity still exists is because of his national hero and NOT from the efforts of the countless Polynesians who fought to preserve their own vanishing heritage from the onslaught of white colonials.I plan on chatting with professors of Polynesian history and culture about my weird feelings on the film./The highlight of the evening was when the cast and crew walked on stage after the screening, some old lady said "What a fine looking group of men!"//Norwegians = Hot
Mugato: So wait, Kat Dennings won't be bringing them by?
steamingpile: Well almost every international history class or literature class I took talked about Thor and other deities worshiped over time..... So he's probably right, don't know about tiki stuff though.

Tyrone Slothrop: Not nearly as interesting as The Story of EBW 343 by 'Wrong Way' Norris.
LonMead: I read the book, and enjoyed it a lot. If this comes out anywhere near where I am, I'll go see it.Here it is on Vimeo.
brap: I feel like a bit of a tool but I'm actuallyexcited about this. I read Kon Tiki as a kid and have always been a bit obsessed with this.Talk about inserting oneself into their research. I haven't seen this sort of dedication and self-sacrifice to prove one's theories since Buddy Love in The Nutty Professor.
Wayne 985: Never heard of this guy, so I looked him up on Wikipedia. It claims most anthropologists disagree with him, but there is some DNA evidence to suggest he might have been right.I'll have to watch this movie or read the book.

OgreMagi: I first read the book when I was in elementary school. It looks like they added some shark attacks in the movie to make it more exciting. Hollywood is incapbable of following the actualy history and facts.
