I only looked at the first couple pages but what can I say, from a money making standpoint most of them make sense. Except....

Disney now owns the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise

If Shia LeBeof puts on a fedora, you will be reading about me in the news the next day.

Dear god, they are making another American Pie movie? Are they going to be getting drunk and banging in a retirement home, or what?

2013-01-28 10:28:13 AM
And, apparently, "in the works" means that someone has talked about it or mentioned it in passing.

For example;

Hancock
Director Peter Berg, while promoting his more-commercially-successful-than-you-might-think blockbuster Battleship last year admitted that a second Hancock film was still a distinct possibility. He's still interested in making another one, and reports that Will Smith is up for it too. It's finding a space in everyone's schedule that's apparently the ongoing problem.

"They're interested in doing a sequel" does not mean a sequel is in the works!

There are a few more examples in the list.

Seriously, there's a lot of "FARK THIS SHIAT!" sequels in the making.

"Casablanca 2", really? Why don't you go ahead and make "Citi...wait, fark Hollywood! I won't give them that idea.

The only half way funny character in those movies besides Eugene Levy was Stiffler and if he's still acting like a high school douchebag at 35 it'll just be pathetic.

Austin Powers is played out unless they change it up to be a spoof on the Bourne films with a lot of shaky cam and Myers attempting to play it straight and serious but ultimately failing.

For Terminator 5, I'm assuming given Arnold's age and the nature of the character, his part will be rendered through Pixar. I'm available, call me, guys.

Many of those are never going to make it out of development, and a couple sound like they are already dead.

Tremors is one of the best B movies ever made.

Even the sequels were pretty darn good for what they are, low budget monster movies.

Dumb and Dumber To is really the only one I'm interested in.

Well, maybe that and another Bourne film. HOWEVER, I do wish that Paul Greengrass (or whatever) would not direct. What kind of idiot actually enjoys that shaky cam style of filmmaking?

I really liked Goon, but Jay Baruchel was the worst part. He wasn't an endearing character, just an annoying one. I could even get past the overuse of the F word, but I was hoping for his character to be on screen the least.

Avatar 2 is going to fail. It'll take money, but nowhere near what the first took. The Avatar sequels will be like the Matrix sequels, people will be saying they shouldn't have bothered.

/Of course The Matrix was actually good, and not just 3D gimmick.

I don't know that the sequels will surpass the original's box office, however they will likely be wildly successful. You may not like Avatar or Cameron, but he knows how to hit the sweet spot when it comes to making movies with mass appeal.

The budget amazed me. The first movie was that cheap? They're only putting down that much for another one?

Still, can't wait.

He's made some great films, not knocking Cameron. But Avatar was a dire, by the numbers, cliché filled film. (Just happens to meet a girl, just happens to fall for her, she just happens to be the chiefs daughter, who just happens to be due to marry a nasty guy..... When she said "Only three people have ever tamed that animal" I would have bet my house that Sully would be the forth. Not a single thing happened in that film that was remotely surprising or original.)
The 3D gimmick/craze was its only selling point, and 3D is fading away.

There are several movies on that list I actually am hoping to see come true as well as others I know are coming out. Like Bond, the Superhero movies, xXx 3, Star Trek and Star Wars Ep 7. But there are several listed that I want to see made and know I am one of the few that want to see sequels to these.

Alice In Wonderland 2
Blade Runner 2
Bourne 5
Cloverfield 2
Indiana Jones 5 (Minus that annoying monkey swinging Ricky in the 4th movie)
Jurassic Park 4 (I want a movie with dinosaurs eating people)
Mad Max: Fury Road
Pacific Rim 2 (Giant Robots for the Win!)
Prometheus 2 (Huge fan of the Alien-verse)
Riddick (About damn time this one is being made)
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
TRON 3
World War Z 2 (if the first one is done right, we can have an episodic movie series with different characters telling their tales)
Zombieland 2 (Movie or TV series... give me more zombie kills of the week!)

Meh. Some of these have been "in development" for years, if not now decades -- such as Ghostbusters 3 and Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 -- and it seems highly unlikely they're going to happen.

Also, this has to be a joke:

The King's Speech 2

Colin Firth is reportedly set to reprise his Oscar-winning role as King George VI in a follow-up to The King's Speech. The new movie is in very early development apparently, and Geoffrey Rush would also be set to return. The new movie will be set during the Blitz, and director Tom Hooper - currently enjoying success with Les Miserables - is reportedly interested too.

What are they going to do, claim he was more important in the British war effort as Winston Churchill?

I thought King Kong was way too long, but for some reason, I can't get enough LotR or Hobbit. They just don't feel like movies to me...more like a mini-series or tv show. I'm not even a fan of the books, either (although I have read them). But even if I didn't like the first hobbit movie (which I did, very much), I'd still have to go to see the next one for the Dragon. I would like to see a movie get a dragon right, for once.

Catching Fire and The Girl Who Played With Fire are both part of a trilogy of novels, so they shouldn't be lumped in with the rest of the moneygrab dreck on that list.

Heavenly Creatures is the best (serious) movie Jackson's made. The script is really tight, and the performances are great. You should definitely check it out.

/Dead Alive is the best non-serious movie.

The Smurfs 3

Sweet Freaking Jesus, there was a SMURFS 2???

Whole bunch of cringeworthy stuff on the list, but maybe, just maybe... Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm has kickstarted the return of the Star Wars franchise to the big screen, this time without George Lucas involved. I just really thought about the implications of the last part. Who knows? Maybe it will work. Of course, Disney could just go all Disney on it and fark it straight to shiat.

/Much like Lucas did anyway.

Avatar was good, I never watched in in 3D, but it is probably some of the best CGI/live acting mix that I have ever seen, and I liked the story. Yeah, I know it's been done before, but so has every OTHER movie ever made.

That said, I have not been excited for an Avatar sequel since I first heard about them. Seems like they closed up the storyline nicely the first time, which of course they do with pretty much EVERY movie they plan a sequel for... I just wish they'd leave it alone. It was nice, it's now over.

With the Matrix sequels, they really could have done something better. INstead, I get ne sequel I don't remember anything from, and one that I never watched past the first 45 minutes.

Oh, I don't know about that. The ship that comes to Earth is obviously something of an oddity. It sure doesn't seem like it arrived intentionally with a specific purpose and had the feel of a refugee ship of sorts. It's implied that the alien that leaves is going to get help, but he doesn't know what waits for him, either. And some of the surviving scientists must now know that the fuel has strange properties as well. You could conceivably have a sequel that doesn't even address the alien that escaped or his return, but the rampant paranoia and preparation for it

This is James Cameron we're talking about. He turned down T3 because he couldn't see a story worth telling. His record is pretty phenomenal, from The Terminator to now, both critically and financially. He's also directed two of the best sequels ever.

He's going to have to come up with a good reason why the humans depicted in the movie, who had no qualms against using modern armor, infantry and air units against aliens who could fight back with bows and arrows, don't simply come back and drop a few rocks on them from orbit.

The list fails without , Starfighter and Serenity 2.
