fusillade762: Broward county. Looks like they drive about as well as they vote.telling county officials that his loss of an arm and leg in a county bus accident in 1996 had heightened his sensitivity to soundWhat do you call a man with one arm and one leg driving a bus?
fusillade762: What do you call a man with one arm and one leg driving a bus?
Lee Jackson Beauregard: In before the Derp Brigade and their spewing about ebil Union Thugs.
gregscott: Which raises the question, just how bad does your driving have to be to get fired in this county?
AverageAmericanGuy: They could call it 'The Bus Driver Who Couldn't Slow Down'.
SkunkWerks: Lee Jackson Beauregard: In before the Derp Brigade and their spewing about ebil Union Thugs. While the article says it several times...FTA: "• He reached the threshold for firing..."...the county officials quoted as defending him (more likely, themselves) keep citing that they "follow union contract rules" also. Not really sure what to make of this- in terms of why people keep citing irrelevant assurances of contract-compliance- but it seems pretty clear to me that this guy's had chances which extend far above and beyond his contract and were completely in the municipality's control to effect termination over them.It seems eminently clear to me at least that union contracts had nothing to do with his lack for a termination. The county chose not to fire him when they were well within their rights to do so on several occasions.Still, this should be interesting.
MyRandomName: While you are busy defending unions against ghosts attacking them...
MyRandomName: This story essentially demonstrates that civil service employment rules are strong enough without unions
Zeb Hesselgresser: It couldn't be that the Transit Union has handed them their ass several times prior to this
Zeb Hesselgresser: Nope, couldn't that.
KrispyKritter: Accidents over how many years? Little paint scratchers or cutting Hyundais in half? These are variables. While I try to support the handicapped I think putting someone with prosthetics in charge of a huge vehicle filled with people is epic stupid. Think their states Governor or Senators limousines are piloted by handicapped people?
OnlyM3: Big deal.If you're a cop you can admit to rape and keep your job (as long as you retract your confession later)You can be filmed threatening to shoot a man w/o cause (and have a history of complaints)You can drive 100+ mph in your car and have all charges erased. You can run over an 8 yr old boy because you chose not to turn on your lights and siren and keep your job (and life).Hell you can even draw your gun on kids having a snow-ball fight and have assistant chief peter newsham come out and lie on camera for you[i49.tinypic.com image 850x637]
kvinesknows: Once there was a bus conductor, who was very rude to his passengers. One day a beautiful young girl, of around 18 years, tried to board the bus, but he didn't stop the bus.Unfortunately the beautiful young girl came under the bus and died on the spot. Angry passengers took the conductor to the police station, who in turn took him to the court. The judge was not at all impressed with him and gave him capital punishment. He was taken to the electrocution chamber. There was a single chair in the center of the room and a single banana peel at one corner of the room. Theconductor was strapped to the chair and high voltage current was given to him. But to everyone's amazement, he survived. The judge decided to set him free, and he returned to his profession. After a few months, this time, a good looking middle aged woman tried to board the bus but the conductor didn't stop the bus. Unfortunately, this time also, the good looking middle aged woman came under the bus and died on the spot.Again angry passengers took him to the police station, who in turn took him to the court. The judge took one look at the conductor and gave himcapital punishment. The Bus conductor was taken to the same electrocution chamber where there was a single chair in the center of the room and a single banana peel at one corner of the room. He was strapped to the chair and high voltage current was given to him. This time also to everyone's amazement, he survived. The judge decided to set him free, and he returned to his profession.A couple of months later, an elderly gentleman tried to board the bus. This time the Bus conductor, remembering his earlier experiences, stopped the bus. Unfortunately the elderly gentleman slipped and died due to his injuries. The conductor was taken to the police station and then to the court, to the same judge. Though he hadn't done anything wrong, but considering his past record the judge decided to set an example and gave him capital punishment. The Bus cond ...
