TheBigJerk: According to personal accounts from folks I knew in the industry, there is a LOT of criminal behavior from the "pro-life" crowd that just never gets officially recorded. They get arrested and hauled off but because the county/state can't afford to press charges they'll probably beat down with donation money and political stinks they're just released at the end of the day to go throw bibles, jump security guards, rifle through records and/or try to sabotage ventilation systems tomorrow.

And that's just our former attorney general.

/OK, only the rifling through records
//and bringing them to his appearance on O'Reilly
///and having his legal fees paid by donation money.
////actually argued that he had the right to lie to state agencies

This text is now purple: McVeigh wasn't fundamentalist. He was an anti-federalist militant.

Not to mention, he wasn't a "terrorist" either. His beef was specifically with the federal government and he picked a government target. His strike wasn't intended to create a political effect.

He was no more a "terrorist" than Obama is with his drone strikes. An abject lesson in the power of propaganda.

Guess what, Champ... Blowing up a building with civilians inside it for political reasons makes one a terrorist.

Seriously? You have the dumbest farking definition of terrorism that I have ever seen if it doesn't include Timothy McVeigh. He's a quintessential example of a lone wolf terrorist.

david_gaithersburg: Genevieve Marie: david_gaithersburg: Only you can tell us, so how racist are you?

A lot less racist than I was raised to be. Not necessarily by my parents, but by absorbing cultural attitudes and the prevailing attitudes of people around me. It wasn't until I was an adult and until I started actively reading perspectives from people of color on racism and until I started actively seeking out information about social and political inequality that I was able to start to unravel all the toxic ideas you absorb without realizing you're doing it.

Stuff like the idea that black people are needlessly resentful of a system that represents them just fine. Stuff like the idea that the criminal justice system is fair, and that America is a country that provides justice for all. Stuff like the idea that poverty is somehow tied up in the moral failings of the poor.

It took a lot of time and a lot of work to get through that much bullshiat.

.
Growing up white in Baltimore I've only been a victim of racism.

I can't speak for Baltimore, but personally I don't feel race has a bearing on why I think you're a putz. I have no idea what race you are, other than rodent maybe.

\although, you *do* type with a black accent
\\^ that was a joke, son

This text is now purple: Then why does someone who murders a pregnant woman get charged with two homicides?

Because the people who murder physicians are using laws like this as a Backdoor-to-Personhood-for-Fetuses(TM).

GranoblasticMan: Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: kingoomieiii: AverageAmericanGuy: Don't you think that some people would think such a person a hero? Why is this a surprise to anyone?

An abortion does not end a human life. It ends the potential of a human life.

If you want to get clever and say it's different because you'd end up a human if you just did NOTHING, that's fine. Condoms are satan's tools, after all.

So human life begins when, exactly?

Tuesday

Tuesday's no good for me. Can we push it back until Thursday morning?

Well, Pilgrim, yer problem is that half of the people living are of below average intelligence.
A problem your Christian Taliban is working on.

For some reason they diefy unborn potential but enthusiastically kill off a living human. I know, crazy!

AverageAmericanGuy: If you could go back in time and kill Hitler when he was a child, some would look at you as a murderer, but others would consider you a hero.

Now, with the case of abortionists, we know they are performing abortions and they are, in some views, murdering innocents. Not too different from Hitler's death camps. So instead of having to consider in retrospect what you could have done to prevent the Holocaust, you are now presented in your life time a chance to put a dent into the holocaust of innocent babies.

Don't you think that some people would think such a person a hero? Why is this a surprise to anyone?

But what if the doctor is aborting the next Hitler?

Super_pope: Genevieve Marie: And there are few things as sickening as the kind of glee and anger that some of these groups put into emotionally abusing women seeking abortions.

Can you imagine having to go to your doctor and walking through this kind of crowd?

http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/01/18/1467591/alabamas-abortion -c linic-escorts/

I always wonder how the really crazy ALWAYS manage to avoid hitting the kind of people who actually deserve it. These assholes? Nope. The guy who was running Enron? Nope. The Westboro Baptist Church? Nope.

All of these individuals or groups could have been dramatically improved by a guerrilla attack by some nut with a bunch of firearms and a carbomb or something, but nooooooooo he had to go shoot up an Amish school house. Why can't these nuts ever direct their misplaced rage at people who happen to have it coming anyway?

In the short term, that might make those of us with a semi-rational thought process feel better. The downer is that in the long run all you're doing is creating martyrs for their persecution complex. Start killing them off and they'll all start believing that they're making a difference and "the devil" is trying to kill them off so that his diabolical plan isn't threatened.

/it never occurs to them that maybe their god wants them dead because they're so f'ing embarassing

Sgt Otter: hubiestubert: Oddly enough, the fastest growing and most prolific of potential terrorists by the Federal guidelines, and under the Bush Administration's own definitions, involved church and militia groups who felt that it was their time to move against the godless--well, that and the folks who thought it would be nice to patrol the borders for illegals and maybe shoot them some brown folks come El Norte. Most of these folks got on these watchlists not because of their faith, but because of fairly public statements, and procurement of arms and their own websites and publications.

Oops.

Rampant during the 90s, a massive drop-off in the 00s, and a gigantic surge in 2009. Gosh, it almost seems like a pattern, but I can't put my finger on it...

I think the 90s spike can be partially attributed to Ruby Ridge (1992) and Waco (1993).

DeadBaby: I might have more sympathy for the anti-choice movement if they had plans and funding in place to help poor children. Instead they ostracize them and call their mothers welfare queens. They honestly don't give a shiat about kids once they are born and therefore they give many women every reason to want to abort a pregnancy. Who wants to live in abject poverty and be ostracized? With no mandatory maternity leave many women have to choose between the life of their fetus and their jobs. But guess who doesn't want any sort of decent maternity leave, that's right, those zany Republicans.

THIS.

I'm sorry, but unless these pro-lifers start standing out in front of abortion clinics with "hey, have your baby and I will take it, care for it, and love it like my own" I won't take them seriously nor give them any credit or value. Unless you can offer an alternative for the next 18 years, shut the hell up and get out of their way.
