It's almost as though ABC has journalistic standards and are waiting for a result from the investigation instead of trying to help out the GOP?

Can you imagine her ignoring such an issue if she were interviewing a Republican? That probably would have been the first order of business if not the entire six minutes.

Remember Lewinskygate?  Remember how the liberal media never talked about it?

Those scoundrels

So how much time has Newsbusters spent talking about Limbaugh's allegations that he slept with underage male prostitutes in the DR?

Oh sure, a Democrat is going to buy the Limbaugh Package.

LordZorch: Were they underage in the DR, or underage in the US?  If in the US, which states?

Age of consent in DR is 18. Almost universally those countries which allow for prostitution (legalized or decriminalized) detach age of consent for the practice of prostitution. As an example in the Netherlands the AoC is 16 but the age you may legally pay for it is 18.

A good many of the women that are used for prostitution in so called "gentlemens vacation resorts" are there under duress. It's a despicable practice that generally involves Marco from Tropoja. This is also a practice employed in Brasil. The only country where independent operators outnumber "captives" is the Netherlands.

I have given a lot of time and energy to causes that help stop this kind of thing and help to get those girls back to their homes if they have any. Amnesty international is the largest recipient of my yearly donation fund. The fact that a representative of our government is having sex with slaves is in fact outrageous and the man needs to find a new line of work.

To be fair, it would have been the same with FOX. They would never have finished with the Benghazi questions.

Let's find out if the allegations are true before we judge him, but yeah that business is messed up. I can't even picture enjoying sex with a less than completely willing partner. Creepy.

In all honesty, I think their only "cause" is making money.

So a guy emails an FBI agent saying he has proof that a senator is engaging in child prostitution, FBI agent asks to meet with guy and needs more information to continue an investigation, guy continues putting off meeting and has been jerking agent around and refuses to place even a phone call with the agent while he "collects more evidences."

Sounds legit.

So wait for the National Enquirer to get it - they're the ones who broke the John Edwards scandal while the 'professional' media was too busy playing courtier to bother doing the legwork.

Which isn't a bias issue. The 'pros' pulled the same shiat all these years with Lance Armstrong. Most big names in the press are more interested in career advancement than in getting the story right...then along comes an Enquirer or a Deadspin to make it abundantly clear that the 'pros' regularly trade objectivity and thoroughness for access.

I can understand Martha Raddatz not wanting to ask that kind of question without more to go on, but she'd better have feelers out behind the scenes. She's going to look like the Democrats' poodle if it turns out there was something there after all. Which isn't the worst thing in the world for her since she operates in the land of political incest we call Washington - even if the story's true and she blew off a legitimate lead because gosh, Democrats are so dreamy and awesome and she hates those poopyhead mean Republicans, she'll get kicked upstairs to be somebody's press secretary or corporate PR flunky and make sweet mid-six-figure money reading the press releases some entry-level chump wrote for her.

In other words, farked if I know if the story's got legs but to dismiss it out of hand (or assume a coverup of The Real Story) at this point is the sign of a partisan hack.

GAT_00: So how much time has Newsbusters spent talking about Limbaugh's allegations that he slept with underage male prostitutes in the DR?

Limbaugh's allegations come from him having Viagra in the DR. No one has actually alleged he's visited prostitutes, male or female, other than as a good.

LordZorch: Were they underage in the DR, or underage in the US?  If in the US, which states?

It is a federal crime to travel abroad to engage with sex with someone under 18. The law came into effect after a Congressman was found to be having sex with a 17yr old boy in a foreign country. Last I heard there's a statue of the guy up in Massachusettes because he fought "for the little guy."

I think we should keep criminal allegations out of the media as much as possible until they're decided in court.  Innocent people have their names dragged through the mud too frequently.

you are in a foreign country, you break no laws in that country

What's weird is that the law applies to sex with anyone under 18, regardless of local law.

So, if a guy goes to some country where the AoC is 16, and has sex with 17 year old, he can be arrested, even if he lands and stays in, say, Nevada, where the AoC is 16.

That's seriously f*cked up.

I have no problem with that.
Prepubescent right? Children.
Because the the puritans in this country have problems with sex and young adults doesnt mean that everyone on the planet has a problem.
(and no, while I might think old guy sleeping with 17yo is creepy, I dont think it is immoral or illegal)

What if he marries the 16yo or 17yo? He still broke the retarded US law. The whole thing stinks of the morality police.
Toss in that I have serious issues with the US imposing their "morality" on other countries.
Every time we do that we destroy countries.

The war on drugs has killed more people than would have died if all drugs were legal.
And the chaos we have rained down on south america/central america is unconscionable.
"US: Here is a GIANT pile of money and guns, if you keep drugs illegal in your country. and let us into the country to shoot your citizens.   banana republic: SWEET!!"

says who?
Country A: prostitution is legal, with a minimum age of 18
Country B: prostitution is legal, with a minimum age of 17
Country C: prostitution is legal, with a minimum age of 16

there are people in the US who think all prostitution should be illegal. they ignore the war on women and that there has always been prostitutes in every country, since the dawn of time. FFS, we have found prostitution in the animal kingdom.

Is there a magic age which is too young? To the parents? any age. To a starving person with zero prospects?

Do I hate that people have little choices and go into it to survive or or or? of course.
Do I wish the world were shiney and all better? of course
But in the real world, the US has proved over and over that pushing morality on others has never ended well and mostly hurts the people it is supposed to be protecting.
Do I have a better solution? hell no
Do I think the current US law is insane? hell yes
