I was hoping he'd run for the Liberal leadership.

Damn good headline.

Here's a +1. I know it's not a membership to the Jelly of the Month Club, but STILL.

Lots of crazy in that man. It's clear that he wasn't acting when it came though in his characters.

Rather have him than Michael Moriarty. Quaid seems less whacky.

TFA: Quaid has sought to stay in Canada, claiming he was being hunted by "Hollywood star-whackers" who had killed his friends David Carradine and Heath Ledger.

What? Heath Ledger did not die from whacking.

is he pulling this crap over a $5k bill for trashing a rental property? if he refuses or doesn't have 5k in mad money to toss at some real estate agent he really is farked up.

Ledger was taken out by a pair of twin female assassins.

And that's how we know Quaid is a whacko.

Well, that's where their legal problems "started."

They also broke into their old house and were squatting there, after they sold it to the current owners years ago.

Their defense (I am not making this up), was that someone posing as his long-lost sister Ronda Quaid sold the house out from under them. Those signatures on the paperwork that say Randy? That's totally an "a," and not a "y."

Should have come in through Quebec. Seems like every so often, there's someone complaining about one genocidal dictator or another's family spending their ill-gotten gains on a mansion in Montreal.

I thought David Carradine was great. Hell, I still do! I was so glad to see him getting better work after decades of B-movie Hell. With that in mind, I have no trouble believing he was a kinky freak. He was in Bangkok, got himself a Thai hooker or three, and when his kink went horribly wrong, they ran out with his money. Nothing sinister there...just an accident. He probably died happy, which is more than most of us get

I look forward to the headline on tomorrow's Sun. There will probably be racist remarks about immigrants.

a lot of entertainers die young and/or under questionable circumstances. most big businesses, hell - most things in life are terribly corrupt. most of us lead quiet little lives with harmless jobs and i think we're better off for it. the more your face is exposed, the more money you make, the higher your probability someone somewhere is planning on preying on you for fun and profit.

there are entertainers that die and it barely gets noticed but the circumstances are questionable. the days of investigative journalism are all but dead except in war zones where government want propaganda fed to the public. remember Brittany Murphy? then her husband not long afterward. you look around, there are a lot more names of famous deceased people easily forgot. it's creepy.

strutin: His Wife is a Canadian citizen, doesn't her husband get to stay with her by default?

Technically yes, but the law (passed in 2006) that says you can stay in Canada with your Canadian spouse also says you are subject to removal if you violate the law. And since his claim was denied, he is now probably under removal orders. (Interestingly enough, "being in country without valid paperwork", while against the law, is not enforced. I know this because I was technically an illegal immigrant for 2 years in Canada thanks to this law.)

If he weren't an idiot, he could have just come to Canada as a family class immigrant. But the whole "wanted in California by the cops" thing precludes that.

So.....no.

I like how California basically said "Fine, stay up there. You're not really worth asking for an extradition for. You're Canada's problem now."
