GAT_00: Lsherm: doyner: Oh, and it would mean that more people in the country would understand how meaningless those stupid yellow-ribbon magnets are.

My wife's family is all army - one retired LC, one active LC,  and two PFCs currently on active duty.  They appreciate those ribbons, so they aren't meaningless.

They appreciate meaningless trinkets, which you claim then give them meaning?

In all fairness, when I was on my last deployment I felt better knowing that strangers back home had dropped $5 and slapped a made-in-China magnet on their SUV after going to Wal-Mart.

But what really made me feel better was that the members of Congress that had voted for the Iraq war were patriotic enough to wear a flag pin.

If the Equal Rights Amendment had been passed, women would already be registered. The anti-feminists (led by Phyllis "it's not rape if you're married/conservapedia" Schlafly shot the ERA down, siting the SS requirement as one of their reasons.

jaytkay: Noam Chimpsky: Ever notice how these black politicians never end up going to jail for clearly defined crimes but white Republicans and especially white Democrats who piss off the white Democrat establishment ( Blago, Trafficant ) go to jail for years for shiat like making their aides do chores on their houseboat? And Duke Cunningham who went to jail for: Cunningham liked to invite women to his yacht. Two of them said that he would change into pajama bottoms and a turtleneck sweater to entertain them with chilled champagne by the light of his favorite lava lamp

Ever notice how Blago and Trafficant and Cunningham were convicted of crimes you failed to mention>

A bunch of trumped up bullshiat. Why isn't Timothy Geithner in prison for tax evasion? Is it because the turbo tax did it? Why isn't Hillary in jail for her numerous clear-cut crimes? Why isn't Obama in jail for his part in the Rezko land deal?

Good idea. Too many people warfighting from their sofas have no clue what the military is about  Too many in Congress have never been there. I'd like to hear a lot less "thank you for your service" and a lot more "I'm enlisting."

I thought he was fantastic in "The Blues Brothers" -- too bad he had to go into politics...
