Jon iz teh kewl: ekdikeo4: ElBarto79: vicioushobbit: biatch is "broke" with $1k in the bank (after mismanaging all her earnings and donations), and I'm sitting with far, far less than that, with a bachelor's degree, a job, and no murdered kids.

/doing something wrong

Not 1k in the bank, 1k in assets. Basically whatever possessions she owns, a computer, some jewelry and probably not much else.

this makes sense. She has no income, and had some pretty damn massive lawyer bills, I'm sure.

i have no income. plus no bills. why doesn't seh live with me

She would kill you while you slept, just like her kid.

Casey Anthony' game plan:

1 Declare bankruptcy when broke and get all bills/debts discharged
2 Book / Movie / Porn deal
3 Pocket the $$$ without having to pay it all away.

Chlorophyll. It was Chlorophyll. Yeah. That's the ticket.

Oh please. Even Casey Anthony has standards.

stiletto_the_wise: It's funny. I can scan this thread and tell who has never been wrongly accused of a crime and became bankrupt and their life upended because of it.

Never have kids, OK?

She actually was convicted of a crime, she is bankrupt because she lied to the police.

Though Anthony was acquitted of killing Caylee, jurors convicted her of four counts of lying to detectives

At this point, what's stopping her from pulling a Walter White?  Worst case scenario she gets caught and has 3 hots and a cot and doesn't have to worry about debt for 15 to 20.

Dear Jerk: The most amusing thing about this whole sordid affair is that Casey Anthony is more likable than Nancy Grace.

For a second there I thought you was suggesting a porn with those 2 and I was like how about no.

Her lack of marketable criminal skills?

Too late, and no, I wouldn't want HER to be falsely accused of a crime, libeled and slandered by the media to the point where her name makes her unemployable, bankrupted by a corrupt justice system, etc.either.

C.A. lied to the police. We get it. Big deal. So now, lying to the police should carry a penalty of $800,000 + lifetime unemployability? Jeez, she lost a kid too, isn't that enough?

I guess that depends on the nature of the lie. If you lie about how fast you were driving then yeah, that's a bit harsh. If you lie about not knowing where your child's dead body might be located then yeah, you're just trolling.

jmr61: IlGreven: jtown: tylerdurden217: How can she possibly owe 68K in taxes, interest and penalties?

You answered your own question. Only the government is allowed to charge so much in penalties and interest that they dwarf the principal. If a private citizen tried to do that, it would be called usurious.

Tell that to Western Sky Financial.

/APR on a $10,000 loan: 89%
//Take out a $10,000 loan, pay back $60,000.
///And they're banking on the fact that they're based off of a South Dakota Sioux Indian reservation to shield them from prosecution.

Prosecution from what?

What they do is perfectly legal.

So you mean to say that Native Americans are robbing white people blind and getting away with it?

Ain't karma a b*tch?

Yep - Western Sky is the epitome of usury. If I needed a short-term loan that badly, I'd go to the friggin' mob before I went to Western Sky.

Jesus Farking Christ: Let me get this straight. Students can't discharge their loans in bankruptcy for study, but this farker can get rid of $800,000 for killing her farking kid?

Nice.

The only was to discharge a student loan is to be marked as permanently disabled and the you have to wait 3-5 years, with proof each year of your disability. This will also include living on your disability income.

When was it made illegal to lie to detectives unless she was under oath? They lie to us to get information. And I thought under oath was only on the stand.

She should make YouTube videos where she reviews children's toys and make money off the advertisments. She'd make a bigger troll than Ann Coulter. You know people would watch just to cuss her out in the comment section.

Late as usual. If no one's mentioned it yet, this is awfully convenient timing, seeing as she's about to be sued by Zenaida Fernandez Gonzolez.

The article mentions it.

Although I don't get the timing, bankruptcy doesn't make active lawsuits go away just the judgements after the fact. IANAL though, there must be a good reason she is doing it now.

Yeah, that was mentioned upthread. But then I found this in the comments on another site:

" In my opinion, the primary underlying motivation to file bankruptcy wasn't about debts but rather to get the protection of the Automatic Stay to avoid being forced to answer questions about what happened to Caylee. As explained in this article, http://www.mdbankruptcylaw.com/lawguide/chapter7bankruptcy/powerofstay .asp

"In the moment when a voluntary Bankruptcy case is filed under any Chapter of the Bankruptcy Code the automatic stay goes into effect. ... The stay prohibits any act to obtain money or other property, whether real estate or personal property from a debtor. All law suits must stop. ... The stay is the equivalent of an injunction. An injunction is a court order prohibiting or commanding some action."

Casey has been allowed to refuse to answer Zenaida Gonzalez' attorneys' questions about what happened to Caylee on the theory that her 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination remained in effect pending her appeal of her convictions for false information to law enforcement. That particular legal protection expired last week when the appellate court issued its decision and Casey was going to be thoroughly questioned under oath by Zenaida's attorneys.

Now, the defamation lawsuit is automatically stayed, including discovery like depositions or interrogatories. The trial date must be vacated (cancelled). I expect Zenaida's lawyers to file various pleadings with the bankruptcy court, like a motion for relief from the automatic stay, a motion to determine dischargeability/non-dischargeability, and/or an adversary proceeding, but all of that will take a long time. And we have all seen that DELAY is the name of Casey' game."

IANAL either, so I don't know if the above comment is bunk. But it would make sense timing-wise if it's true.

2013-01-28 04:58:53 PM
Ahh so the sole purpose is to delay? I guess it could be a good strategy but it sure seems like it could backfire if the bankruptcy goes through and then they win their lawsuit. She would be on the hook for that amount for the next 7 years.

CSB: My patrernal grandparents lived in Largo(actually Bellair Bluffs, but Largo was their mailing address) for years. Thing I remember most was the "bouncy" grass in their yard. Never did find out why it was like that, though. When we visited them, we'd stay in Indian Rocks Beach. Good times...
